Just couldn't get away from kraut mobiles. Shitty dealer pic, car should be here by end of month... just in time for winter \:\(

Only mod planned for now is putting in rear seats so that I can take my daughter out in it.

pfffffffffffffffft, good luck keeping up to me when i smoke you as you stalk me leaving montessori.....more than you can afford pal, hypeRRRRR!

OMFG so jelly, good kill. love it. what year? looks pre-facelift for the 06-11 gen. is it one of the 3.8L motors? stick or no? \(\.\)\(\.\)

and don't be one of those fags who crashes it two weeks into ownership because they lack proper driving skills. (and you're asian)

i assume you got a kickass price, i find getting cars from outside ONT are always much better priced.

yup 997.1 with the 3.6 mezger. I like the look of the pre-facelift and the price much better compared to the 997.2 Facelift happened in 2010 with the 3.8 and new front and rear bumpers along with centre lock wheels.

BTW, 997 GT3's only came in stick.

Here's the window sticker:

I should come out ok with the M3 since I got it for a really good deal. Hey you only live once right? Might as well buy one while young and enjoy it as opposed to old and grey.

Hey I asked the wifey. Are we going to ever move and she said no without even thinking... so here we are lol

Purposely bought one with more K's on it so that I don't care about mileage. I was putting around 3k/yr on the M. So maybe 3500 on this one LOL

damnit, i was itching for an //m3 sedan when i was trying to dump the 3-series -- why couldn't you do this 3 months ago? :P

It's not too late. Dump the X3 and give the wife the X1 and blammo M3!

That was my selling point to her when I picked up the X1 (as in - your car's gettin' old - when i find something newer you can have this one \:D \:D )

Actually she was asking if the tires are too old on the x3. maybe it's time for her to take over the "newer" x1.

PM me. \:D

Thanks. It was shipped with Thornton. Guy was great, updated me twice as to when he was going to arrive.

They picked up the car first thing Wednesday morning and they were suppose to be here by Friday but the Hwy was closed in Saskatchewan.

This car is far from being as cool as the awesome cars Rob is bringing in though.

To me the 997 gt3 is the epitome of p cars and I've been out in my buddy's 991 gt3 (he also had 2 997 gt3's)

Such perfect cars, I've never seen a silver one but from pics it looks stunning

Funny, your Porsche silver looks a little lighter than mine. I didn't know it came in different flavours?

There's artic silver, which is light and I believe there is a platinum silver which has some yellow in it.

But yeah I'm not usually a big silver guy, but knew this was going to be darker and have some depth to it.

Car looks good man. What's the interior like? (You never know what you're going to get with porsches for the interior because there are so many options you can customize)

Interior is awesome. Full leather interior with alcantara in various areas along with the painted centre console that matches the exterior. I'll post pics later. Seats are also adaptive, looking at the build sheet it looks like the only box that wasn't ticked off was carbon brakes.

Leather in the rear as well where there are seats normally too. The Porsche crest in the headrest was an option lol

Seems like the previous owner was a bit heavy handed on that shifter. Everything else looks mint but that has some wear to it.

Yeah it's a bit worn. Good news is that the dealer threw in a brand new shift knob and boot. The car shows really well. Biggest issue is the front bumper and a minor scrape on the rear bumper.

I've driven my dads 997s quite a bit and loved it, a daily driver for sure. Shifter was buttery smooth and clutch was light and rode like a sedan when it wasn't in sport mode. Just the brief 1st gear cruise and I could tell right away that this car is way different. The clutch is HEAVY and the shifter is notchy. Transmission is beefed up on the GT cars to handle track duty.

Will be driving it this Wednesday as I'm getting the safety and etest done.

ran a full year on the TSX without a front plate no problems. 4 months into the TLX boom. pulled over. just keep it in the trunk and tell him you're waiting for the bracket from porsche. don't forget to fondle the balls.

Made it to the mechanic without issue lol.

My left leg got a fucking workout /pussy

Don't even know how the previous owner could use this for long distance driving. It's loud, firm and sucks on gas lol

Omg I forgot how amazing the steering is on the 997. It's as if the steering wheel is talking to me.

Rob my temp paper is on the windshield too lol. Mine expires in 2 days. Did you ever put a front plate on the 348?

Better than 2 or 4 holes on the front bumper

What is the fines for not having a front plate?

You will be fine without a front plate especially with the amount of driving you do.

How much did it cost for shipping if you don't mind me asking?

More like you decided to turn the 328 into a dedicated track car with a beefed up power train and said fuck all the bushings.

I thought the 3rd gen. RX-7 was a pretty focused car. But the GT3 is on a whole different level, no matter how many reviews you read or videos you watch, there's just no describing how it drives. Risky has seat time so I'll wait for him chime in on the feelz.

C-lo, it was $1600.

Not much "feelz" to be had as a passenger tho so I really have no place to comment. Only thing I can draw from the 997 gt3 vs 991 gt3 comparo is it reminds me of a really proper EG hatch (think allmotorhonda) vs. a new civic Si. <3 997 GT3

That's a pretty good way of comparing it, even though I haven't been in a 991 GT3.

I have no idea how the previous owner could use this to commute and drive to Montana in the summer. It's loud and rides borderline harsh (that's with PASM off, when it's on it's like what suspension). It's insane that GT3 owners think it's too quiet from the factory. My dad's 997s is a true DD, the clutch is light and the shifter is smooth. It's quiet, yet just enough engine noise to keep one happy and suspension is firm but not harsh.

glad to see I'm not the only one. Something... annoying about that guy. And so uninteresting in his reviews and opinions.

But yes, do the bypass... The noise is just fantastic - esp when you let off the throttle. pop pop pop pop

Woot. Hagerty will insure the GT3. Don't know why I didn't think about them before adding it to my current policy.

$300/yr insurance on a toy ftw!!!

Perfect, so how many km you think you will rack up this year? 50km-55km?

Maybe it's covered under your home insurance if you just drive it in the driveway ?

That's a really good price, I would have guessed in the $900 range

Will never be driven to work and my current policy is $1100/yr but I get credited for the winter months when it's suspended. So overall I would save a bit over half with hagerty.

Agreed!

This is like saying vacation travel is a waste of money, kids who don't support parents later in life were a waste of money, food that's not simply for sustenance is a waste of money. Life is about the experience and usually experiences cost money.

Agreed!

Especially if it's just a toy he's barely going to use.

This is like saying vacation travel is a waste of money, kids who don't support parents later in life were a waste of money, food that's not simply for sustenance is a waste of money. Life is about the experience and usually experiences cost money.

Let me put it to you this way: I can "experience" driving a Lambo without having to live with the god damn thing!

What did you experience? A few moments of supervised enjoyment, or unsupervised with limited throttle, or in a convoy? What if the ownership experience is what you're after? Taking it to dinner, seeing it in the garage when you take out the trash, the thrill of the seek and purchase, etc.

Disagree that the best experiences are not in any way tied to money. A beer with a best friend? A laughter of a warm, clean, fed child? Laying on a beach looking up at the stars, while on a blanket, transported to the beach in a vehicle. Money brings freedom and in turn facilitates every experience to some extent. I believe the key is to separate yourself and allow some money to flow towards these experiences rather than constantly being on the run for more money that in itself brings only peace of mind in terms of experience.

I figured that it's pretty obvious we all need a small amount of money to survive/function so it was/is a moot point

It was your comment on lambo ownership and that type of money that I referenced with my comment.

Makes sense, but if you want a more intense experience, owning vs 1 lap of a race track, it'll cost you more. My points was simply that it's not necessarily a waste of money.

It's funny because I work in a factory where they make 12-16/hr and they all jerk off to my M3 on smoke break (10' from my car). I found out a few talk about how they've been in it, discuss with the receptionist, etc. I tell them quite frankly that 1) you're rewarding a poor financial decision, if it was a 30k Accord nobody would think twice and I'd be far better off financially and 2) it's worth ~30k, sell your 7k truck, stop smoking, BOOM! 8yr old M3's for everyone...

You're an idiot. For one this car is not a depreciating asset. Number 2 don't be fucking jealous that I have this car. Number 3 mind your own fucking business.

Lastly, it's a toy that I can enjoy now as opposed to when I'm 70.

Right. Cuz ownership of something that's parked 99% of the time in my garage. That I'd have to think twice about taking out when the forecast says rain. That'd have an anxiety attack over a dump truck spewing pebbles on the highway, I'd get nervous in a parking lot when I can't find 3 spots I can park diagonally across. I'd wonder why I'm spending thousands on a brake job or an overhaul for something that spends 99% of time in my garage.

Yup... that's really the "experience" I want!

Except for a collector car that appreciates in value, I see not point in pissing away my money on depreciating exotics.

I'd rather borrow them from rentals (vegas), Turo and friends with dealerships.

A - How much was yours brand new?
B - How much did you purchase it for?
C - How much would you get it if you sold it today?

IF ( A>B and B>=C ) { Depreciation = true }

Own appreciating assets. Rent, or better yet... borrow for free, depreciating ones.

It's a pretty simple rich man's formula.

If that's the case then why did you buy an Acura RDX when a kia something or other would have done the same thing?

I'm not worried about dump trucks spewing pebbles all over the highway in the RDX.

And no! The HYUNDAI, which I tested, DIDN'T DO THE JOB!

I've seen people who save and save and never treat themselves and the next thing you know, they have a heart attacked and they are 6 feet under.

If Hator has the financial means to buy a fancy vw, good on him.

If I had the funds, I'd be doing the exact same thing.

oh sorry. I mixed you with "the postman".

but you have a TLX so the argument could be made your car as well.

but then again, you probably ARE scared of pebbles coming off the back of a dump truck on the highway.

no that argument couldn't be made because i'm not the one saying that there is no gratification on a nice car, you're the one saying that; so if you really believe what you say and you're not talking pure doo doo butter out of you're mouth, then why did you go for a higher class RDX when a rav 4 does the exact same thing?

oh and don't get all high and mighty, so what, i like to keep a clean car looking good and in as new as condition as possible and that's just fine with me. i wouldn't live in curry land like you do but hey whatever floats your boat.

I didn't say or imply "nice car", I said (implied) "useless exotic"!

The fully loaded RAV4, which is about the same equipment as my RDX, is just about the same price as the RDX. Just $6k difference.

See, your analogy wouldn't be quite so fail if my SUV was a Porsche Cayenne.

damn you're dense.

hyundai, kia, chevy, ford, take your pick of small 4wd suv's all much cheaper than a RDX.

reading comprehension > you.

again, YOU are saying that it's pointless to have a nice car, yet you drive a nicer car that's available to the market. please quote me when i said anything along those lines...i'll wait.

Acura RDX = luxury (slightly higher end) than a Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4

So based on your logic, why do you need to waste extra $6,000 if that money can go toward the downpayment of your future investment condo?

You are driving the car once every few weeks on 407 (carpool with your coworkers right?)

Just buy a basic Ford Edge (or Escape) for $30K and call it a day? Pretty sure the Ford SUV will do the same thing as an Acura SUV.

so why do rich guys buy super cars?

Read:
 Quote:

What brand of car do you think wealthy people most often drive? Mercedes? BMW? Lexus?

If you answered any of those models, you’re only partially right. That’s because, according to a study done by researchers at Experian Automotive (and published on Forbes), 61% of wealthy people actually drive Hondas and Toyotas and Fords, just like all the rest of us.

What amount of income do they consider to be “wealthy”? The IRS says only 2% of American households make more than $250,000 a year, so that’s the dividing line.

These big-time earners—people who could easily afford a new Mercedes if they chose—drive Honda Accords or Toyota Camrys. That gives a whole new meaning to the idea of “the millionaire down the street,” doesn’t it?

The top 10 cars for $250,000-plus households include the Mercedes E-class, the Lexus RX 350 and the BMW 5 series and 3 series. Following those top four were three Hondas, a Toyota, an Acura and a Volkswagen.

Also, it’s sadly not surprising that 8% of people who make less than $100,000 own a luxury model car. If that isn’t an effort to keep up with the Joneses, then we don’t know what is. You make $50,000 a year and you own a $60,000 car? That’s insane.

Dave talks all the time about how down-to-earth the “average” millionaire actually is. Only 2 in 10 millionaires are actually retired. Most of them still go to work every day and continue to generate income and save for their family’s future.

This picture of a low-profile millionaire driving a Honda to work every day doesn’t fit our culture’s stereotype of the wealthy person, does it? The “evil one percent” might look just like you and me—the difference is that you don’t see him or her on reality television or in headlines because of some corporate scandal.

Someone making $250,000 a year could easily afford a nice Mercedes, but only 39% of them choose to drive that type of car. How interesting.

Maybe image isn’t worth as much as you think.

Let me add: appearances can be deceiving! You may have more net value than many of those guys driving around in super cars. They may appear rich, but they just have a better ability to rack up large debts than you do.

Lots of famous rich guy bankruptcies around to prove my point.

"useless exotic"! You and titty need to get that through your heads! Nice car != useless exotic!

My whole argument is around "useless exotics" !!!! And by "useless" I mean those that aren't a good investment (ie: making money).

I don't knock "nice cars", I knock "useless exotics".

Got it?

no because who's to determine what's an exotic to someone? to someone who makes more money that may be a lambo on a straight street, to others it may be a clean turbo EG hatch worth 5k. sorry i guess everyone should just live by the just a troll definitions to life.

Don't be silly! We all know what an "exotic" is. Even the super rich know what an exotic is. Exotics are exotics just like economy cars are economy cars. Regardless of class, revenue, net value the vehicle classification doesn't change.

A dingy is a dingy and a super-yacht is a super-yacht.

Certain cars are great buys as they go up over time or just get to a value and just hold solid. Next car I buy I'm looking at one of these. They cost more up front but you can enjoy them and they just hold value. Or if you want to go crazy you can make money if you plan to hold on to some of the exotics for only a short time.

yes and no. Any exotic that will go up in a very short time, good luck getting your hands on!
Most exotic cars (ferrari, lambo, mclaren, ect...) all drop with miles. Unless you can get approved to order something like a LaFerrari or long tail P1 you aint making money in the short term.

I think porsches are selling for high dollar because they are what's in style now. they are still great cars but some of the appeal to that is fashion. i've been seeing men's fashion on IG where there's an old school porsche in the background of some hippy looking white dude lol

Do you have it yet?

Speaking of 'investments', I'm not sure my M3 will ever drop below 20k, especially if I keep it clean (6-spd V8 coupe, 80k miles currently). Looking at a Boxster S at the moment to round out the lineup and have enough differentiation. What say you, sell M3 or keep it cause it's different enough from the 4Runner and Boxster (mid engine convertible) and each car has its benefits? I am leaning to keep it because I can put a car seat in it if I don't want to drive the SUV but is it stupid? I am not leaning towards having one fun car because I'll end up thinking 991 Turbo but I don't want to have that level of responsibility (tracking, parking lots, etc). I'm thinking that rather than move up, I'd rather add to the collection. Thoughts?

Picked up Saturday and then we had a snowstorm haha.

I have 200kms on it now and I got it with 11 so it's not broken in yet. Like it so far but haven't really experienced it and break in should be about 2000kms. Even at half throttle it can push you back in the seat pretty good.

I'll post some better pics soon and a bit of an overview.

It's no GT3 that's for sure but for a daily driver its pretty nice

You're into your second summer, are you actually enjoying this on the road or is it garage eye candy? What are you seeing for values of this since purchase?

Haven’t driven it much sadly. I put insurance back on end of April and I just burned through that tank of gas last week lol which is 340kms.

I want to hit the track this year. Just need to find the time to do it. As for value it has gone up around 20%.

I thought Spark was a robot from the old movie and I kind of remember seeing him telling some engineer showing the equation for a clear metal that the guy would event years later - porschetr

Both? lol! Although after I installed the intake, the smoke is basically non-existent. They say it's good for about 15whp on the top end.
