Don't make fun! I love it. Such an underrated car. Will never want to replace it!
Date taken. Nov 26, 2006 Looks identical to what I have in the garage
Sweet, I really really want to retrofit the Suzuki. But i've done too many already....Prelude, Si, & P5. The P5 was the worst one though, I used morimoto everything just to give it a try and for an easier retrofit cuz I used the H1 kit. They were less than stellar. Not cheap either. Defi would never use them again. Retrofitting is very laborious, and time consuming. No time for doing it, sadly.

Much later than that. Maybe on the peasant models.
None of mine use the E-hand brake. (Thank goodness).

A gorilla that works at ParkShore BMW in Vancouver
The 3 other wheels were fine, all torqued to spec, don't ask me what they did to this one.
Sheared the 3rd wheel lock, even snapped a 3/8>1/2in adapter on my breaker bar I used after I hammered in a 12pt security socket to see if that would work.
If I had a 20mm 12pt I could probably get it off, but it's late, I'm hungry and I'm sick of working in the dark on this fucking car. I gotta now code out TPMS because of course the winter tires don't have sensors and the car doesn't like that.

Nope, Canadian car. If in fact they don't have sensors inside, why the fuck is my TPMS going crazy as soon as I removed the factory wheels?
I just reset via iDrive, we'll see if that does anything.

If you can get a small amount of heat to the wheel lock like a butane torch, that would help some.

I broke 2 BMW key locks and a 1/2 inch extension before giving up and bringing my X3 to the dealer. These were BMW aka McGaurd flower pattern key locks. Couldn't bring myself to torch the lug nut as not to ruin the wheel finish. Switched to the newer style keys and haven't had an issue yet.
Interesting vid on the effects of applying anti-seize or lubricant on your wheel studs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3ndeXiZUeM I used to apply a small amount to keep the threads clean but not anymore.

Btw 4age I'll buy your car this spring ok!!! wtf i didnt know it was for sale XD XD How are guys snapping the wheel locks? This be cray. BMW needs to be torqued to like 88 or some such right? Never had an issue with them (when I ran them). Though I no longer use wheel locks at all.
Tell me about it. Like I said 3 wheels were butter, but this 4th one is being a bastard.

Lets see, E36 -> Mustang -> S4 -> Touring in the space of last3 years. Even Jeff keeps his cars longer. Actually it hasn't been 3 years! It's been at least 4 if not 5 XD You missed 240z. I have a bad problem. That thing is hottttttttt. Best sounding car I had.
now that is a sick car. saw one just like that back in the day orange on black interior for sale for only $1800 at richmond hill toyota. i always kicked myself for not buying it.

oh and for you guys breaking lock nuts, not sure if you can do this with bmw wheel bolts but it's worth a try.
i did this on my friends integra. just grab a shitty socket slightly bigger than the lug, heat that fucker up on the stove (i used a propane torch) hold it by the extention and hammer that bitch on and let it cool. lug nut cranked right off.
I did that. I used a 12 point socket instead of the usual 6 point. Made it a bit easier.
One socket, one hammer and a breaker bar and off came the lock nut. Makes you wonder why we bother with those damn things since it's so easy to remove them without the key.

oh and for you guys breaking lock nuts, not sure if you can do this with bmw wheel bolts but it's worth a try.
i did this on my friends integra. just grab a shitty socket slightly bigger than the lug, heat that fucker up on the stove (i used a propane torch) hold it by the extention and hammer that bitch on and let it cool. lug nut cranked right off. I did that. I used a 12 point socket instead of the usual 6 point. Made it a bit easier. One socket, one hammer and a breaker bar and off came the lock nut. Makes you wonder why we bother with those damn things since it's so easy to remove them without the key.
it's true. i always wondered if that gator socket thing would just take them right off.

i know right? this was back in the day, about 2006/7. my mom had just bought her 05 rav 4 brand new and i took it back for an oil change and saw it on the lawn. it was in fantastic condition, no rust, all trim, no rips or anything on the interior...fuck i should have bought that but poor teenager.

What year X3? These guys are just mentioning regular German maintenance items lol. Still have to deal with all the oil leaks (valve cover/tranny pan/oil filter housing/crankcase vent valve/axle seals) and even broken coil springs in the rear (depending on year).

Yup winter tires on the stock wheels - car is very good in the snow with the exception of the height

I just had to do an axle seal earlier this year, luckily I caught it before the front diff was empty. There is no sensor in the diff for low fluid
