Traffic on DVP was steady as usual, probably 30km/h average speed going south from 401. I got off at Lawrence West (twisties bro) and was merging onto Lawrence.

I am the red dot and Scarborough thug life is the blue dot.

The merge ramp for Lawrence is short, knowing that I kept a good speed through the ramp to make sure I merge at speed (it's also uphill and the car is slow). All was great, I was on Lawrence, came in at 60km/h (which is limit, but slightly slower than flow) signal on to merge as I was accelerating to 70km/h.

Blue dot, also started accelerating when he saw me in order to pass me, it wasn't happening fast enough (drove a rusted out mazda) and I was running out of room. Since we both met at the same time, and the cars were both painfully slow he remained at my 1/4 panel for the duration of the merge ramp as I had my signal on.

What's a person to do, at this point I am going close to 70km/h am I to slam the brakes because he won't let me in and he knows I am running out of room or do I YOLO?

Of course I YOLO, he swerved into the left lane (where there was a car) and that car had to swerve into on coming traffic...then he proceeded to honk/swear at me. Not going to lie, felt like my good old days and I really wanted to 'bout that life for a moment.

Feel bad mostly for the left lane car that went into on coming traffic, had I anticipated that I would've probably stopped like a donkey and waited, otherwise I'd feel no remorse just ramming my car into this dipshit and driving off.

Thoughts? OP is a pos?

Keep inching over and force your way through but if they do not really budge, just back off of the throttle for a second and then merge. Just ignore then honk/swear and move on, no point being heated up over some asshole/bitch.

Lulz, how long have you been driving and you still don't know how to merge?
HTA says through traffic has the right of way, sorry your pride won't allow you to merge safely even if it means braking and tucking behind the Scarborough POS.

I know what the rules are, I am asking what would people do IRL.

I know I am at fault from an HTA POV, but if everyone drove like scarborough POS, no one would be able to merge. I broke the "law" let's say, but he escalated the situation by blocking me.

This is how traffic/accidents are created.

+1
Roadie/trackie tactic. Fight for space by inching over. Dude will move. Dude does not want to hit you - not worth the accident. Plus, you have a rusted out mazda, it's ok if it touches his car XD XD XD

I totally get being triggered tho - I would be too. Buuuut meh, it's public space and if the other driver wants to be an ass, he can totally be an ass. There's no stopping that. Blast some Chopin and chill out.

Somehow I thought you were in your TL - was scratching my head as to why you can't pass a POS Mazda...

Going w/ snapper's answer - but in this case, I'd slowly inch over rather than the YOLO swerve (but assume the risk as my fault since i didn't merge properly) just so innocent bystanders don't crash and die.

Or the fun option is jam on the brakes enough to tuck behind, then go around him and block his ass.

There in lies the problem. If you get out of your car, you never know whats getting out of the other car!
Wasn't really a thought when I was younger, now, meh. Touch the brakes slot in behind and continue on your way, you'll live longer!

The difference is the scarb heap is on a 96 month lease on a 2002 Mazda. And you could easily...Very easily buy a quicker car.
The whole situation is self inflicted. Scarb should've written off your car and sued you.

I know this is an argument I will not win here ever, best not to engage

But in all seriousness, obviously there are certain things you don't skimp on especially that are directly correlated to health/well being (food/diet/exercise/not living in a ghetto).

Everything else is fair game, cars, houses, clothes, etc.

I know that onramp, and i agree with you.

you're supposed to merge left on the highway to let people in, it's the same deal with the leslie to 401 east onramp. people on the dvp at that lawrence onramp are jerks because they hug the right lane to beat traffic since most of the traffic is backed up gonig 404 north or 401 west to the left of the dvp; yet they don't let anyone on the damn highway.

In this situation I would have done what you have without question. Now since having kids, I try & cut it out as much as possible after seeing that one dirt peep on YouTube attempt to open the backdoor to get to the person's kid in the back seat.

If I'm by myself though & someone just keeps engaging with me brake checking, swerving etc, I'll pass them on incoming traffic, swerve back over & lock it up & watch them avoid rear-ending me. It's only ever happens to me when the guy has his girl in the car & then I watch the girl ream the dude out before I continue on my marry way.

I rarely ever get into "situations" now, this is probably the most excitement I've had driving in ages. Ain't nobody got time for this shit, in particular posturing up against raging losers.

I mean if your life is so bad that you have to be passive aggressive in your driving to feel good about yourself then honestly I can't imagine how miserable you must be...this goes out to all the guys blocking you when merging in particular.
