I don't drink a lot of beer anymore these days, and when I do go to The Beer Store it's usually spontaneous while I'm already out, so if I kept old beer bottles at home I wouldn't have them with me to return.

I just can't be bothered to store them, see them grow moldy over time, generally get in the way and/or stink up the place. For what? $0.10 a bottle? Fuck it, I just throw them out with the recycling.

Am I the only one? Does this make me a bad person?

Don't worry. All the chinars will come by on their bikes with bags to collect them for you out of your blue box.

Speaking of which I need to make a run lol over flowing with empties.

Beer store has a pretty good return rate. So.it seems ( at least based on their advertising ) the vast majority do return .

I usually collect 2 or 3 twofour cases and return with wine bottles etc.
It's like $8-9 off another 2-4.

Never seen them go moldy or smell.

According to the published statistics 99% of beer bottles are returned. That makes me think that most people don't treat them like you and I

perhaps 99% of them returned by 1% of the ppl...the old people that walk around the neighbourhoods at night collecting them from recycling bins

lol, there's a lot of Ontario that isn't in Toronto. I haven't ever seen anyone browsing the blue bins in my neighbourhood.

I don't drink nearly as much as I used to but I still collect my empties. I rinse the bottles out so they don't mold and store them in the garage.

I usually return about $8-9 worth of wine and beer bottles. Usually apply it to to the next case. Cans go into recycling because who has time for them?

wouldn't cans be easier to store because you can just stomp on them making to make them nice and flat....

I crush the 16oz cans with a can crusher and just write the number of cans on the recycling bag before bringing it to the beer store. Never been asked to count them at the store. They just hand over some $$$ and I buy more beer. Simple.

To be honest with you I never considered that

I guess when you put it all in perspective, sitting there crushing beer cans on your garage floor after emptying them and then storing them in a plastic bag and transporting them via car to a beer store to get a dollar seems awfully stupid...not that bottles are any better, but they "feel" better/easier \:\|

in my scenario, you'll be crushing the cans as you're done "crushing" the can

This! I have a couple of old ChinaR ppl in my area that ride their bikes around collecting ANYTHING valuable they see on the curb side.
