Jesus the customer service reps are dumb. This chick sounds like a 14 year old girl.

Wife watches alot of TV, but I crush the internet dl'ing and watching Netflix, so it looks like a great deal for our needs.

That's a good deal. Has Rogers entered the 21st century yet and using wireless receivers? I don't have coax outlets where most of my TVs are located, and it's too much work to fish the wires.

Wow, it includes the Home Phone too.

$95 without home phone.
for $5, should switch from Bell. I guess you still have to add Caller ID

Imagine in 2 years, hundreds of RFD people would call back to re-negotiate.

wtf I called, and she says I can't get it and there's nobody at Rogers who could help including the retention department.
I hung up, calling again.

Got another person and she was pretty helpful and she found that deal and made note to my account. Now being transferred to the retention department who can actually make changes.

OK, done.
Took only an hour lol

Thought you were the keyboard Jesus. Why not look it up on Rogers.com?
Pretty much every internet plan they offer is called Ignite.
Ignite 40, Ignite 60,....Ignite Gigabit
Numbers meaning its download speed.

For those who are out of the TV world, what rogers is offering is the following:

Basic TV, Internet, home phone for $99 + HST? So $113

What's so special about this?

Teksavvy internet $50 + vbuzzer voip $8 + HD antenna(free) = $58+ HST = $65

Am I missing something in terms of why it's SUCH A RAGING DEAL?

I don't know what I have, I think 30gigs down, why on earth does anyone need a gigabit?

Is internet speed one of the most overbought and underused things out there?

You mean 30Mbps, not gigabit.
I have 60 Mbps and no issue with the speed.
But this deal is for $99 with the TV service, AND you get the Unlimited bandwidth.
Plus Shomi ( Rogers Netflix)

I was already getting a heavy discount with my current service and the bill went down $20 with this upgrade.

You can argue all day, but this was a killer deal.
Thanks OP and Choco for the code.

I am not arguing, I am trying to understand what's so killer about it?

Point being is if you like overbuying speed/bandwidth for the sake of speedtest bragging rights on forums, yes killer deal.

For daily use, I don't understand at what point that speed is required or how you can go over your regular bandwidth.

Awaiting outlier justifications.

You don't have a need yet. A family changes that, for both the TV & Internet speed. Not to mention its the CHEAPEST for the highest package on both TV & Internet.

But since you like things that are quantified based on numbers, every wedding I shoot gets backed up to the cloud. 5MB up isn't doing it.

There's tons of other uses outside of that as well.

I am asking for you to explain it, because like I said: I don't see it.

I just see banter about speed and bandwidth yet 99% of people have already overbought on both. So explain to me these uses so I can get up to speed on what I am missing.

Wait, so backing up data once a month or whatever is a time critical task that needs to be done in 30 seconds instead of 10 mins?

What are the "tons of other uses" for normal people?

I get 320 Gb.
We don't go over usually but watch our usage because sometimes get pretty close to it.
We watch a lot of steamed HD shows from Korea.
I try not to update my phone apps at home and limit my usuage of Rogers on demand over the net cause I don't have a TV in my room.

Again, this was about lowering the bill too.
I wouldn't have gotten the Gigabit service if I have to pay more.

It was already answered, you chose to ignore what you didn't understand.

How's the streaming experience of HD content to 4 different family members on 30Mb?

VPN downloading huge files from work?

I can go on & on, but because you enjoy a slow internet experience others "over bought" lmao

I'd share my data with you that clearly shows average of 6 gb/day of usage for my wife who works from home just for VPN, voip, and video conference calling. Combine that with auto synch offsite storage of photos and documents, neftlix 4k video streaming, my VPN to work and we already had the need for no cap.

Even the 100/10 package we had plus VIP cable, we were paying more than this $99/month. Given that either one of us (or both ) can expense our internet, its a no brainer.

From my perspective, the biggest thing is unlimited internet. I just eyeballed Teksavvy Cable 30 plan and you get 150gb for $47/mth before tax. I'm half way through my monthly cycle and already racked up 90gb in usage which is really just my use (wife is rarely on and kids are not at all). I can imagine what it will be on a household with multiple people downloading/streaming/gaming on the wifi.

Teksavvy unlimited brings you up to $69/mnth and from there you have to discuss speed comparisons. So then the $30 delta for Rogers gives you tv/phone/pvr..etc

Good deal imo.

You can get dial-up for $19.95/month, explain to me why two adults, three kids, two cats, a dog and a bear (because Russian family) need more than dial-up?

It wasn't mean't to get out. It was a targeted marketing plan to combat loosing customers that had Bell Gigabit speeds as an option.

Huh? no, that's what he told me. i just said give me the U64 deal with gig + tv deal/etc. he went and checked, then said the above.

only other deal right now is $113+tax for my plus TV pack and 100/unltd. internet

or if wanting just internet it's $64.99+tx for the 100/unltd or $10 more for 250/unltd.

all 2yr plans.

I called and I am not qualified for the deal because U64 is only for selected Rogers customers only.

What a waste of 40 minutes on the phone with Rogers.

Just use the callback feature...That's what I did

Do you set time aside to call, is that it? I call while doing other errands whether I get any deal on the 1st or 10th try it literally doesn't change my daily schedule.

You can tell within the first 30 secs if the person is going to help you or not. Just be straight forward. Hang up & call again.

Called again this morning, another retarded rep picked up. I asked to be transfer to retention, he tried to keep me on the line so he can deal with me. Told him about the U64 promo and he searched my postal code and said the service is not available.

0/2 with Rogers and another 6 minutes was wasted

Called Bell to cancel the home phone and found out they don't offer Fiberoptic for my area. Which means max it can go with Bell is 50 Mbps for me.

So, it's either BS that that deal only existed for Bell Gigabit area, or the person I talked wasn't aware of that limitation and I got lucky.

Read some of the late posts on RFD..

The postal codes in which we are told we can apply the offer (as of late last night)

L5B 4P9

M4P 1R2
M4S 1S9 (1 Gb)
M5V 0E9
M5V 3V1
M5V 3V2
M5V 3V5
M5V 3V6
M5V 3V9

Those are all that we are allowed to add it on, technically the code is available elsewhere but that's putting our jobs at risk. So any of those postal are good to go, any others gotta find somebody who is purposely ignoring instruction

Me too.

The customer care person looked up the code, checked if it's only for new customers or not.
Then made note to account. Then sent to Customer Relation Dept where they made changes.

Make sure you run Cat5e or better to your router and that you are using the 5 GHz band.

Did you try plugging directly to the router? Are you using a separate router? I feel like the Rogers router is crap.

Wireless.
The wireless card should be able to get to 300 Mbps

Wired with 3ft long Cat 5 wire, straight from Rogers Modem/Router

with Cat 5e, same as above

Are you on 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz network?

Try the 5, be close to it, and rotate channels, you should be able to hit your max.
