Recommendations on shoes for training? Sprints, cardio, weights. That's it, no distance running.

Adidas or Nike fit me well, so looking there. My current pair of Adidas are shot and I'm looking for something a little more "minimal" for squats/deads.

A few finds while casually browsing...

Very minimal
Nike Free 1.0

Something a bit more in the middle.
Metcon 2

I definitely recommend deadlifting in socks.

But for non-deads, I have some old-ass Nike Frees that are still in great condition, but I'm considering getting something new just for the simple sake of having something new! Looking at minimal as well.

I've used my running shoes for just about everything. But I lift more for maintenance than power.

Interested in what other suggestions turn up.

Same, I'm not pulling major weight for deads. Surely not enough to warrant socks only.

Adidas and Nike fit the same? Shouldn't be the case. Nike is typically a more narrow fit. With that being said I would go with Metcons all day everyday. Don't worry about the crossfit stigma that seems to follow them.

I have the Nike Zoom speed trainer 3, and it is also a solid shoe, but only picked them up because I got a killer deal. Next pair will be the newest version of the metcon at that time.

Yeah, no issues with either. I have an older pair of Free trainers and they were fine

Thanks, I was leaning towards the Metcons.

Or some Chuck Taylors? About as minimal as you can get, and if you're not running sprints or some shit they'd be fine, lol!

+1 for the Metcon 2. I have a pair and it's the best all around fitness shoe i've ever worn.
