Gf made me a protein shake yesterday for breakfast and after drinking it the back of my throat was a bit scratchy. Not a big deal, I have allergies and am used to the feeling, something in there must not agree with me 100%. So I'm working away and about an hour later the scratching is still there, so I run upstairs and take a Benadryl. I decide to bring the work laptop upstairs and watch a little TV at the same time. I get up there for maybe 10mins and my palms start itching like crazy and I start wheezing a bit. So I decide to jump in the shower and cool off. That lasted for about 5 mins, I get out and I'm lobster fucking red with a white ring around my neck and my eyes feel like they are going to pop out of my head. My ears are itchy, the back of my knees, something isn't right here  I can feel my tongue starting to swell up as well as my throat. I txt my sister (Who's an RN) and she asks if I have an epi pen (Which I do, but it's expired, lolz).. She says get your fucking ass to the hospital know, you're having an anaphylactic reaction.
I get dressed and things are just getting worse and worse, breathing is really hard, my head feels like it's going to explode. Jump in the car and broke all kinds of speeding laws getting there. I park, and walk into emerg, the triage nurse takes one look at me and walks me over to admissions, tosses my health card to the clerk lady and gets me into a bed. I strip down (Those hospital nighty things are sexy) and I've got like 3 people on me. One is starting an IV, the other taking my blood pressure, the other asking me a million questions.
Once the IV is in I get 3 different drugs (I'm sure Jay knows more about this then I do)... I forget what they were to be honest. My gf shows up and bursts into tears (I feel so bad for her, lol) I keep telling her I'm fine but apparently I didn't look like it. Once the epinephrine started to take effect I felt a lot better. Swelling went down and I started to lose the red colour, also my breathing became a lot easier. I spent the next 5 hours in there, then was released. Can't say enough about the nurses, most thankless job in the hospital. Colour all came back, itching stopped, red blotches all over me also disappeared. Pretty fucking scary though, I thought for sure when I was driving there I was going to pass out, the pressure behind my eyes and in my head was pretty intense. I probably should have just called 911 but whatever.
We figure it was the flaxseed she put in there, I have an appointment with an allergist in the next few weeks. I've had allergies all my life but the older I get the worse it becomes. I'm sure I could have stayed home and just toughed this out, but I've never had a scenario like this that I felt like I had no control of.

This would rack up quite a few rounds of guilt induced sexy / IDB time and get out of jail free situations.
