I am putting my summers on in about a week. Bought coilovers and will drop the car and change out the sway bars. I am too lazy to jack up the car again after that to swap wheels so it's all getting changed next week during the suspension swap.

Did you say AWD with winters and a hitch? Here's my turd in 18" deep snow How come we can see most of your 19" rims in 18" deep snow?
that's because his Turd has 20" ground clearance yo! Do the math: 18" of snow, bottom of chassis approx 2" above the snow.

bcuz ricer at heart lol. i have to find some new sticky summers for the R...think i'll drop back to a 205/50/16 from the offsize 215/45/16...have to see what's out there, have tried quite a few brands. usually i'd just do an RS3 or RE11 as dd/lapping duty but tempted to go stickier like A048 or 888 or something (using it for both dd/lapping). If you don't do an R comp, try out the dunlop direzza z2. I think for a non R-comp, they're my favorite so far. Don't get me wrong, I loved the RE-11 as well but I was able to dial out more understeer with the z2 just by adjusting tire pressures a little.
Nice yeah forgot about z2, i've used the starspec z1 back on the day on the s2k and they were decent but needed to heat up. they were the bloody loudest non-Rcomp though (not that it matters on my R now).

I've got RE71Rs.. they were pretty good when I was on the track, and not bad on a wet track.. kinda sketchy in going over large puddles though...

I am gonna pile in here, for my tl the pss or dunlops? 235/40/18...going to see about 5k/year in driving so treadwear isn't overly important just looking for something half decent and sticky.
Also where do you buy your tires here?

Beats me. I don't have a car to put them on (yet) So you going to let the cat out of the bag already? Jfc Did you sell nsx? What are you thinking to replace it with?
Hopefully with something that needs a 235/45/17 size tire!
I picked up my PSS from Tires23 - I pretty much only go through them. Pricing is pretty much the same everywhere give or take a few bucks if you're buying up here in Canada.

Based on the things I'm looking at, 235 would make a nice spare tire

My 453s are a great tire. So much better than my Bridgestones(which I know are garbage to begin with)
They are quiet, smooth and handle very well with spirited street/backroad driving. Hopefully I'll see how they handle a few track days this summer. But for what I paid for them, I feel like I got an excellent tire. I would buy them again for sure.

dont touch dunlops they're harder and louder than most (across the board), in your TL you'll be annoyed and the car will feel noisier and cheaper esp at hwy speeds.
pss ballin, not bad. check out conti's they're always a great choice. i like bridgestone but not they're low end stuff.
like euphoric said you maybe don't need to break the bank with pss or conti's...doubt you want anything goodyear either. so checkout a decent falken or yokohama all-round sport all-season tire. (depending how 'sporty' you wanna go. yoko makes some decent models for the money. there's always toyo too.

you talking about the dunlop direzzas? i went with them, slightly better tire than the falkins, i read about how they were noisy but mine are not noisy at all. could be that the tlx is a quiet car but still, i've had yoko's that are much noisier. they are decently sticky too, no track tire but great for what they are.

There are multiple dorezzas. Dz101 and dz102, which are the junk ones...and z1/z2/starspec which are the track ones. The z2 and z1 are mad loud even on my s4. Like super ridic loud. I would highly advise against these for DD.

holllldddd up.
i have the dz102's on the 20's. they are plenty sticky for a street tire not to mention they cost almost $1000. you mean to tell me you guys are running basicaly track tires on the street? how hard are you taking that yonge street onramp? lol also you guys are buying $1000+ tires that wear out in two years? i didn't realize this place was that baller

1k for half decent tires on 18"+ is nothing. This is not meant to sound baller or anything, but it's generally garbage at lower price points when it comes to tires or at least anything performance oriented.

Yo wut srsly. I track the car. Go through 1 set of tires annually. If u must know about yonge St, I can do that ramp at 140 on winters :p not safe to do on summers BC velocity would be way high and it's a blind corner XD
Dz102 is good for street I give it that. Sorry, maybe "crap" was a poor adjective to use. But performance wise, comparing a dz dirrezza to a z dirrezza is like night and day fa realz. Not on the same level at all. Fwiw I drove a d101 on track and it was pooooo. I know dz102 has been much improved doe. But still far behind other tires in it's segment.

I am gonna pile in here, for my tl the pss or dunlops? 235/40/18...going to see about 5k/year in driving so treadwear isn't overly important just looking for something half decent and sticky.
Also where do you buy your tires here? dont touch dunlops they're harder and louder than most (across the board), in your TL you'll be annoyed and the car will feel noisier and cheaper esp at hwy speeds. pss ballin, not bad. check out conti's they're always a great choice. i like bridgestone but not they're low end stuff. like euphoric said you maybe don't need to break the bank with pss or conti's...doubt you want anything goodyear either. so checkout a decent falken or yokohama all-round sport all-season tire. Btw ed wtf u have re71r what for. They wear mad quick. The tread wear rating on that tire is bogus XD people are getting like 3 days out of those tires before they cycle out holllldddd up. i have the dz102's on the 20's. they are plenty sticky for a street tire not to mention they cost almost $1000. you mean to tell me you guys are running basicaly track tires on the street? how hard are you taking that yonge street onramp? lol also you guys are buying $1000+ tires that wear out in two years? i didn't realize this place was that baller Yo wut srsly. I track the car. Go through 1 set of tires annually. If u must know about yonge St, I can do that ramp at 140 on winters :p not safe to do on summers BC velocity would be way high and it's a blind corner XD Dz102 is good for street I give it that. But still far behind other tires in it's segment.
oh no i know you track but most people don't. i'm saying that i can take the majormac to 400 south on ramp (long tight right turn) very hard and the tires don't even make any noise, so short of that how much performance does one need for the street?
my tires may be garbage but they are more than enough for the street i find, i mean, there are much cheaper tires out there like sailuns and shit.

$1000 for all 4? You drive a civic still ?
Imagine all this shit now a days with 19s and 20s. You gun get raped
that was for the 20's brah

+1 I agree all the way. No need for insanity on the street it is a waste. Plus it is not fun to have a less grippy tire... More entertaining on the street. As long as tire characteristics are good (steering feel, steering response, noise and wet traction etc), then that's all that matters. IMO on the street, finding a tire that feels good is paramount. I don't disagree with u here Fwiw doe some tires do not make noise even when traction is broken. Noise is not an indication of on limit adhesion.
maybe it's just me but the 102's have all those characteristics, feelZ, steering response, great in the rain too. it could be because they are fresh but i can't get them to push even with the size of the boat tlx. i remember running bridgestone RE010's and the yoko ES100's and those were loud as shit.

Here's a dumb question, are SUV tires specific? What I mean is can I use a proper sized performance tire on my RDX or do they have to be SUV specific? Do they make performance oriented light truck tires?
Looking at a set of Bridgestone RE760's for the TLX as recommend my Allen from ST.

They def make perf oriented suv tires No they do not need to be specific
Best to ensure factory overall diameter if possible to optimize abs/esc function
And just ensure tire load limit is within the vehicle gvwr

Took car for test drive hoping wheel falls off. Apparently with spacers it's standard practice to have a wheel or two fly off at one point or another.
Would've been a fitting place for it to happen at markville.

Would've been a fitting place for it to happen at markville. not if you get extended studs (not always needed)
I tore a wheel off my mustang with spacers and extended studs (replaced the stock studs with decent race studs). The safest way is use a spacer with an integrated second set of studs. The shear point is limited that way.

Thanks everyone, glad people like it. I really enjoy the lines of this car, maybe I am biased, but it sure feels like it's one of the nicer looking sedans out there once you do a few subtle mods. I was getting crazy ADD mid winter was going to get a new car, started looking at many different options, in the end decided to just throw a few mods at this one and make it last.
I used Tein coilovers, there was a sale for 30% off with an acurazine vendor so I jumped on it.
Car rides about 20%-30% stiffer than stock, but that's a combination of switching from winter tires to summers with a lower profile, upgraded rear sway bar, and uncalibrated butt dyno feelz. Can't really tell what made the biggest difference, but the car definitely feels a lot more nimble now.
I used the Ichiba V2 spacers, they are spacers that bolt up to your hub and then you bolt up your wheel to that. Like Jeff said, they are supposed to be better, we will see.
Need to schedule an alignment with level one auto and then possibly get new tires or maybe make these last a season and get the tires next year.

The same M3 ready to grenade at any point amiright?
All that shit is subjective anyway, M3 is more purist focused, but they've long ago stopped being pure where as the ISF is just that a luxo sports barge with a lot of "raw" in it (considering it's a lexus) and it's not pretending to be something it's not like the M3.
I like both, but your comment is out of place I'd get the ISF over the M3

Toyota has tested , no badge snobbery involved, I guess they had to fix the fake exhaust in the previous model that I remembered.
How do the current 2016 models compare?

Why would you leave your house in a car on summers, smalled and stanced in this weather I actually took my winters off mid march, and then put them back on. Mother nature teased us with 18 degree weather beginning of March.

lol...still (as always) too soon jr. this friday will be some light snow even. anyways, i usually slap them on last week of april. Were you using those "all-weather" tires for the winter? Feedback? The BMW came with a set of Conti ExtremeWinter tires and they're pretty damn awesome. Good enough in the snow and ice, and amazing for when it's moist/dry which it has been most of the winter.
yeah, i have hankook optimo 4S all weathers and they're decent (for the money). not nearly as soft as winters so they have a decent ride/handling similar to an all-season (nice for a sporty car).
they are NOT as good as those conti's though, those are excellent. the one to compare to those would be nokian's all weathers.

Probably going to do mine on Saturday. As well as polish and wax the car. And then swap the wheels again at the end of the month when my new ones come in

This morning's drive definitely called for rear fog lights to be on.

fenders and coilovers cleaned and dressed yo titty, what product did you use to get it that clean?!?
i used a all purpose cleaner, however you can use anything detergent related. hell, toss some car soap into a spray bottle and fill it with water and shake it up and use alot. the trick is to saturate, aggitate and let it dwell. then spray down with water, then spray on and wipe down with a dressing and a shitty microfiber, something like armour all works great and you can get it at crappy tire.

actually that ride height looks very nice! it's going to look hnggggggggggggggggggggggg 10mm lower tho gave the car a good detail this weekend: hit the wheels a coat of sealant in/out before they went on fenders and coilovers cleaned and dressed used the new rupes polisher with a meguires microfiber pad, worked amazingly. only had to use polishing compound and achieved cut level correction, car is nice and swirl free and shabang, back to life

thanks fellas.
hator i'm a noob about gt3's, i'm guessing they come with coilovers so it can simply be put lower? i dunno about modern porches, but like, all the old ones had coilovers (ie: 964). hell - even corvette has provisions for height adjustments out of the box. mostly pleb cars do not have that
i saw a really nice silver 1998 911 turbo slammed, but it didn't have the regular "hop" that a aftermarket suspension had. looked damn nice.
oh and new model TLX unveiling today at the new york auto show.

Lafora, I exited at the back ricer styles at a 45 degree angle and at crawling speeds and still scraped the lip lol.
Maybe that's why the previous owner had it jacked up.
Got a before and after side by side comparison? How much did it actually drop?
Let me know when you go lapping in it. Want a ride on the track.

I think it looked okay at the original higher setting.
Didn't do it for looks. Cars alignment was altered from Oem spec. So rake, toe, camber...everything was off.
I daily drive a Mazda 2. Believe it or not I really don't care for a nice daily. Happy with something that has a low running cost. And after driving the GT3 I am forever ruined, this car has set the bar really high now lol.

basically trying to save a polyeu lip and sacrificing alignment doesn't make sense. I can see ride height ALONE, sure; but if the prev guy performed a DIY and measured off the fenders to an unlevel ground, then that's probably what ended up with all three being out of whack.

Yup that's exactly how I feel. One of my favourite cars was the old 1998 civic si I had. It was a true beater and was a great feeling. It to have to worry about door dings and what not. A regular 997 drives nice but does not feel like the gt3 at all. Performance wise I would say a 997 carrera or S is similar to a e92 in terms of performance, it does of course have better dynamics, but doesn't feel balanced at all. Feels ass heavy all the time and then there's the engine... the s65 sounds amazing and has a smoother power build up compared to the flat 6. My dads S comes alive after 4K or 4500rpms and it feels like vtec. The GT3 is even more pronounced once it hits 4K.
Take a 997 for a spin, but don't ever drive a GT3 unless you want it lol. I will never like driving my dads 997s again now.
i get where you're coming from, dailying a car that you don't have to swerve away from pot holes etc, but after a 12hr shift, its sick to have something nice that basically drives you home and you just sink into the seat and listen to music.
then again a mazda 2 daily and a GT3 in the garage trumps that lol

That's all I got for side by side. You can see it was much higher before, according to the paper work it was dropped between 28mm to 32mm lol. Was not even before.
Just focusing on the fender gap - huge difference. How's the handling now that it's fixed?

Bill did you do the alphabet delete yet?
I gotta get everything lined up beforehand. CBU, SCR gut, etc. Fucking delete isn't cheap either, you're looking at 2k for the DP + tune. A guy over on E90post just had a set of hybrids installed, he made 480whp/6XXftlbs
Even tunes with everything in place are making around 320whp, crazy.

it's so funny. Pretty much every modern diesel needs all the emissions crap removed to run reliably and make power.
I've been looking at 2010-2011 Gls and MLs and pretty much the exhaust fluid components will fail, the swirl vales will fail. Solution? Delete everything!
I've also been looking at X5d s and it seems the EGRs crack.
On my Jeep I did the DPF delete so I can run proper oil not the low ash stuff, and a retune to disable the EGR and swirl valves so the motor lives! And added a catch can to keep the oil out of the intake.
