Man, I need to replace EVERY window in this house. Still has the OG windows from the 60's. Also the sliding patio doors need to be changed. Would love to replace them with French doors.

Previous owners had about 50% of the windows replaced before we bought, I need to do the rest as well as the patio door. Although that's not very hard, $500 or so and a few hours work. Windows on the other hands are a pain in the ass, but there's no way I'm paying a company to swap them, that's the biggest fucking racket out there. I've got a contractor buddy who can get them direct and again, as long as you're measuring properly, they aren't a huge deal to swap out.

When I'm ready to do mine I will hit up the winter "home show" and try to get exhibition pricing. Will also hit up home depot to get a big company backing it and save from dealing with small independent places.

That balance between less cost and less bullshit.

I need to find a not bend over price (see home depo) for the back patio sliding door. they have some cheap ass looking plain ones for $500 but anything nicer than the basic i'm looking at like $1400+. not sure where there's a specific seller for them.

anyways. kitchen trucking along.

That's pretty good for 2 guys. There was 4-5 guys at my place daily lol. Basement was finished in under 2 weeks. The washrooms and other stuff took longer.

That's something that always scares me, guys who can say they do electrical but aren't electricians. I'd inspect their work before they seal it up.

It's like when people say they can throw up a deck in a weekend, i am ready to put people to sleep via rear naked choke.

Got to read the fine print
Only 1 - 50 lb person on the deck at any time
Never lean on any of the railings
If there are stairs, use at your own discretion

Lol

Speaking of rear doors, I'd like to change the glass on my rear french doors to the ones with the built-in blinds. Any recommendations on where to go other than Home Depot?

me too. luckily i have a friend who's an electrician that lives 5 mins away on teston rd. he came by after they left, also had him come in and OK the electrical for the basement when that was being finished because i had them put in a breaker specifically for the fish tank, i had no idea what i was looking at lol.

floors done, the transition to the living room hardwood turned out really nice, there's no step more like a..smooth ramp is the best way i can describe it. started painting, waiting on the cabinets to finish being made.

Last project i am doing. Pretty sure going to pay for everything from now on, simply don't have the time unless i start sleeping less and that still includes working on this at 1am in between feeds or 5am if i wake up early.

Left to do:

stairs and railing - should be quick

stain all cedar

natural gas line for bbq

interlock around perimeter of the deck and small flower bed. Been rough without a bbq

Because of the VOC ban, oil stains have basically turned to shit. 2yr maintenance vs 5yr. I'm hopefully going to pick up some TWP 100.
