I got as far as ordering TekSavvy modem, paying for it, and calling retentions with Rogers ... Then they ended up matching the price
I'm at about $125/mth for 450GB limit of high-speed, modem, and basic cable...
(Cable I'm considering cancelling it... I only really use it now for 2-3 channels, and I'm rarely home.)

I'm with teksavvy & i'm pretty satisfied...
I pay about $45/month, I get 400gb/month and about 30mb down/2mb up... for the past 2 years, I've been using their Zap the Cap service, which allowed me unlimited bandwidth if i used it at certain times... which I definitely did.
They're stopping that service in January though, which is too bad; but I don't think I'll switch. I've never really had any problems with them.
yep... and hence the price increase.

Im looking into electronic box, but for those who is on electronic box - have you had any issues with your geolocation? The reason why Im asking is bc from dslreports - this seems like the most common issue on electronic box.
yes, I hate this....i find it quite annoying actually.

I'm still running a older Rogers 150/50 package. I think after tax and modem rental I'm at about $83 per month.

Rogers... I had my TekSavvy BNIB modem in hand when I was cancelling, and they matched So I ended up dumping the modem off a buddy for super cheap.. .It's collecting dust.

start.ca doesn't look any cheaper than Rogers with a discount.
Roger's data cap blows and I was with Rogers for years and it was getting harder to get discounts. Frankly, does Rogers ever call to make sure you are happy with the transfer and the quality of the internet connection?

I switched to teksavvy last week. Killed cable and now stream everything. SOOOO MUCH better there was nothing on cable, now I never have to watch commercials, and can find damn near anything I want. Using KODI with the tvaddons on top.

What datacap, ignite unlimited 100/10 that I have now is cheaper than what start wants. I have that discount locked in for 2 years, and I just call them every time it expires and they almost always have some discount available.
so, what other bundle do you have w/ rogers? cell phone? tv? home line? home security (LOL) ?

Reviving this thread as we are going to cancel with bell (tv and internet) and going with start.ca and iptv.
For the guys with start, how has the service been and are you satisfied with it?
Is there a recommended modem to use with these guys instead of buying the one off their site?
tia start was great I always loved their service, even when I wanted to cancel they were super pleasant. I switched back to eBox just because of a deal they had going on. The modem depends on the speed package you want
I recently switched from start.ca to ebox last fall w/ the promo they were having and even after the promo expires, it's still cheaper and faster than start.ca. Only issue I had was the fact I had to purchase a new modem since it was 9 years old. No big deal.
So far ebox has been reliable and their customer service has been top notch.

I plan on using my current netgear router for wifi/as an ap and was thinking of getting the smartrg sr505n just as a modem. But read that the 501 would be better/cheaper if I went this route. Any other suggestions?
Would you guys recommend one service over the other or both are good (start/ebox).

Can’t comment on the modem options as I have never had Vdsl service. The best thing to do is just read as many reviews and see if anyone is complaining about hardware issues then grab the cheapest.
Both of those resellers are using the same infrastructure so it comes down to support which I find is the same. Both offer fast email and phone support locally (Montreal and London). Like I said for me it came down to price.

$99 tax in with Robbers Retention with Cable and 150u. It was $117.xx and they made a mistake, a hour and a half later, I got to retention so they can fix the bill. At that point, I was ready to cancel for real but they gave me 99 tax in........sold my soul to the devil for another year until I have to call back to renegotiate.

I think once the 12 months is up, I am going to move my internet to Techsavvy....I only have cable for Sports. I know there is streaming for sports via box but I am not tech savvy enough to find good feeds.
