My car had a lot of nagging issues that I didn't want to deal with when I traded it in. If it was in minty shape, I'd go through kijiji.

What car are you selling? If the dealer is offering you something close to your $$$, you may as well just trade it in since you save the tax.

this is the car i'm selling. Its super strong, no rust, not modded. onlyl has 200kms.
Only driven on the weekend, just to keep it maintained.

I"m getting some hardcore people with attitude like i owe them something.

I dont think i can trade it in. I currently own another car and this honda. I gotta get rid of this car, as no one drives during the weekday for the past 4-5 years .. Can't pay insurance on both cars.

the only thing that sucks about the car is that insurance is going to cost as much as the car.

solid car for $1600.

i bought one just like it, same color, 4 door auto, but the thing was mint and only had 80,000km on it. i stupid lowballed it and got it for $2200, washed it and put it on the end of the driveway at my moms old place on sheppard ave and sold it for $4k. quickest money i've ever made.

What's the process of sighing over the car to someone?

Just the ownership
write up a small contract?

And do i need to do anything on my part other than cancel insurance, notify MOT?

do you mean as in signing over or 'gifting' to a relative? yes, you need to have a small write up (last time i did it awhile back at least you did) with both persons signing it. any old piece of paper, doesn't have to be some fancy document.

not sure if the person has to BE at the MOT office when you do it or not. of course you'll most likely need the ownership too, never wanna forget to being ANY doc's to the ministry because you'll be SOL when the staff there deny you to do anything on the spot.

*edit - I don't think you need a UVIP if you're just transferring a car to someone. Least i'd hope not...they change the rules over time so best check for sure.


if you meant selling:

basically get the UVIP $20, sign it and put down the latest mileage (blueish papers) give them the copies they need. they can sign it as well.

sign/mileage the back of the green reg'd slip and give it to them (you give the car portion only, you keep plate portion). *I usually let them fill in the date of sale in case they can't go reg'd the car right away.

this lol. yeah if you and the buyer both didn't know...when he went to the office to reg the car with the paperwork, she would have just printed it for him, said "sign here" and pay us $20 on top of all the other fees. i've had it happen to me (and i've done it to others-only because they wanted the car and didn't care).
