I'm working from home today so I lucked out in day 1 of Pan Am Traffic Clusterfuck.

my friend took 2 hours to get from Yonge & Davenport to Winston Churchill & QEW. It would normally take her about 45 mins. Today, she left at 645, got to work for 9.

I'm not looking forward to the rest of this week \:\(

holy shit \:\( man GL with that.

traffic up here was lighter, i guess because school is out and many people are taking vacay with the Wed. holiday. i was worried to see lots of traffic "northward" as two of the event locations are right up here. (angus glen and also over at kennedy and hwy 407) but nothing harsh so far. mid-town and downtown won't be very fun from the sounds of it. also around York U will be retarded.

Cam Wooley says everything is going well moving smooth, so people are lying about the traffic obviously.

Millions of dollars spent on these games and they thought this was the best option for the 5,000 signs that were put up around the GTA

Why be cryptic? Just display the name of the venue, save the confusion.

lol Every single radio station I tuned into (during my 3 hour commute) used the term disaster or something similar.

Mind you, its sort of expected. Everyone is complaining about the HOV lanes becoming active 2 weeks ahead of the games, but its better that they started early so that by the time the games start, local residents are used to them.

there is value for the signs being cryptic. i think they'll make sense to people with tickets to the game

why spell out the whole name of the venue to people who may not speak English.

i can imagine the accidents that will be caused by people trying to decipher the hieroglyphics and are going to miss their exit swerving from the HOV all the way right.

ugh, what a shit show.

I love to get a Golf Wagon TDI but the Volt really gets me to look at them because of the $8500 rebate and the use of HOV lanes

is she in the HOV? Green plate or extra occupants?

it's definitely great for those who can use it, but for the majority of us that can't....maybe i'll ride my bike to work. I wonder if I can take a bike on rush hour go train going AWAY from the city.

Yup she uses the HOV on the 404 whenever she takes it during peak hours. Volt has green plates, so no min. occupancy required which is one of the reasons why she got it.

So just to be clear....2 seater fully loaded to the 2 person max occupancy cannot drive in the HOV lanes right?

The signs clearly state 3, so if you can squeeze a 3rd person it's all good.

Seen on Twitter:
"I don't think the motorcycle or two-seat convertible I saw this morning were HOV eligible"

Temporary HOV lanes will be open to:
- motorcycles (on City of Toronto roads only – Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner, Lake Shore Blvd.)

This province is fucked, create traffic chaos two weeks before the games start, two weeks of people spending less time with their families, reduced on the job productivity due to people arriving to work late etc, all for no valid reason than Wynne being a douchebag

I used the HOV lanes today.
427-Gardner- Jarvis

It felt great passing everyone but so many unqualified car taking advantage.
The car in front of me slammed on brakes and merged to traffic when he saw flashing lights in front. (the cop already had someone pulled over)
Some drove so slow on HOV, I wanted to hit him.

Anyone with Pan-Am accreditation can use the HOV lane, regardless of how many people are in the vehicle.

He could just say he's an athlete and avoid the foot cutting ;\)

Read on another forum that cops are pulling over the accredited cars too just to check their badges.

Pan-Am volunteers are encouraged to use public transit and shuttle services, and are given free access to both during the games.

They only give accreditation to 3,000 volunteers per day. Seems you can't just get a pass for the full duration of the games.

I hate that . We have all seen people pulled over. Wtf do we need to rubber neck for to see another one.
Ypu could park a Zonda on the side and it would cause less of a jam than a rusty accord pulled over.
