So far just Boston is on the schedule. Everything else kind of hinges on whether or not I get into the Western States lottery. Way Too Cool 50k is definitely on the list for March (another lottery), and maybe Leadville again in August, or Run Rabbit Run.

I generally don't plan too far in advance.

Here's my current 2015 schedule:

Jan 18 - 50k - Road
Jan 25 - Marathon (1 week after a 50k, will probably fall over dead during race)
Mar 1 - Half
Mar 15 - Half
Jul 18-19 - 100 Miler - Road (50 Saturday and 50 Sunday)

Thinking about signing up for:

Apr 26 - 100k - Road
Undecided 50 miler

I'd really like to run a 13.1/26.2/31/50/62/100 next year. If I do the 100k then I just need to do a 50 miler. While I am doing 50 miles once for my 100 miler, since it is 2 days, but I want to do an actual 50 mile event. So I gotta find one, I have some ideas but nothing setup yet.

I would love to tell you to take it slow, but who am I to talk?

By the end of the year I'll have done two 50k's, two 50 milers, and a 100 miler....plus a road marathon.

Oh, and that 50/50 over a weekend doesn't count as a hundo.

Haha, exactly. The 50k and marathon are close together, but the 50k came up recently and is like an hour from me, so I want to do it. The marathon is part of a 5 races series (so are both half marathons) that I'm doing. Besides that they're fairly spread out.

Being in FL I can't, well, not easily, do any sort of good elevation training, so I don't know if I can go do Leadville, ya know? I'd love to try, if you guys are doing it again this year may haps I will try to get in. Or Run Rabbit Run, I dunno that race just seems awesome.

If I complete that 50/50 my belt buckle will say otherwise sir! But really I think it seems interesting, its unusual. Also, it is on the road, in SC, in July. You gonna tell me that hot mess isn't a real 100? On the site they said they moved the course a year or two ago because there was too much shade on the old one!

Maybe I'll look at the Keys 50/100 in May, for another hot road race, hooray!

Just a 1/2 marathon in January and the LA Marathon in March.

I've yet to find my mid life crisis.

For me it revolves around I turn 30 on December 28th and want to run 2000 miles next year. Not a mid life crisis, but a hard goal to achieve. I'm talking myself into doing the Keys 100 in May now, lol. 16 weeks after my marathon in January, plenty of time to train. Then another 9 weeks to my double 50. It all sounds so doable, I'm real good at psyching myself up into races, lol. But being signed up for a race keeps me going and keeps me accountable, I (almost) always get out there and do my training runs because I know I need to.

I still need a back half of year plan.

Oh, and in the training Lake Sonoma falls right in line with the Keys 100 training! If only I had unlimited money...

So I'lll either be faster than ever or completely burnt out.

God damn. In peak season, I'm doing around 100 miles a week on the bike. 100 miles a week running is mad L33T. Fuck.

I have nothing planned for events yet. I'm sure there will be a 5/10k and my usual weekly TT's.

There's a Spring (bike) classic called "Rhodekill" (week before Battenkill in NY) that I'll probably try out. Road and dirt/gravel combo.

Sure did - nothing!

Ok, maybe that stair-bike race again. I have zero urge to compete. Oh sweet, I paid $100 to find out I'm bottom third of hardcore runners.

Don't you run 25-30 miles/week? What's a 'hard core' runner then?

People who run as their sport. You've been in a few of these races, some people will pass you with absolute ease.

I'm pretty sure you're a hard core runner dude. 25-30 miles a week is in the tippy top percentile of bipeds on the planet bro

I'll be happy to cry with you about being slow, tho \:D

The people that pass me with ease get a high 5, I'm not racing them lol. I'm now an age group mid-packer--racing only myself. My competitive days ended in college

I got away from the "fast" mentality long ago.

Didn't you mention signing up as a way to keep motivated? Been working for me (as well as meeting other runners).

Yea, I've got non-runner ism for days over here. The though of attempting a 70.3 or that I have 2 actual halves on My schedule already (and paid for!) keeps me pounding out my weekly 15-ish \:D

I figure another year of this and I can check off a 26.2--we'll see lol cry

It does give a whole new appreciation for those that can run them and run them well.

I used to jaw drop when my wife told me she ran 10k, now I run 12 before breakfast (still sucks doe).

The half and full Ironman races are in my house of cards. There is an Oceanside 70.3 that doesn't occur until early 2016. But signups open in a few months.

By comparison, the Vineman 70.3 sold out in under 20 hours this year.

And if you're willing to put in the time, I foresee a marathon in your future.

yea vineman has too many elites/pros in it, I figure they can have it. Wildflower seems to have more my caliber of people in it [many over 6 hrs in the 70.3, a couple even around 8h...aka #nailed_it :D]

I have no reason to think that maybe 2016 I can finish a 26.2. A full iron would involve me testing the 17hr limit most likely lol. How long does it take to walk 26.2? 7 if you really push it? lol

so say swim the 2.6 or whatever in an hour or so, bike the century++ [112] in like 7, walk the marathon in 7.... #nailed_itwith2hrs_2_spare

I will grudgingly admit that assuming I can run a 4:00:00-ish marathon at some point, that I'll attempt a bucket-item 140.6

The 1/2 marathon was the main thing standing in the way of me doing a 70.3, which is why I have a few of those spattered around and maybe I'll try Wildflower in may [just to finish upright and having not walked the 1/2 marathon ideally although it's hilly as fuck]

Dude...I've gone no faster than a 4:15 in an IM run...it was usually around 4:45.

Point is, you can swim good, bike average, and still pretty much walk it in for a sub 14. Take a look at my IM Tahoe results from last year. Holy sufferfest, 7 hour bike and I walked half the run...still sub 14, lol.

That's why I'm going back to LA this year. Did the bucket list. Got a faster time at OC for family bragging rights. Now want the sub-4 hour time.

a marathon is like what... 1/3 as hard as an IM?

I'm thinking a 70.3 or [2] in 2015
a 26.2 [or 2] in 2016
a 140.6 in 2017
and then return to swimming and never, ever go past a 70.3 again [and never run a 26.2 again, either for that matter]

Possibly February 7/8 - IBJJF Houston Open. American Grappling Federation and Kozen Fighter do not have 2015 schedules up yet so I don't know when they will be. I only competed 4 times this year so I need to step it up next year.

Like anything else...to get better/faster. It wasn't ever a bucket list item for me.

I'd think that after Leadville, a full IM would be child's play to you. I was just thinking about that yesterday for some reason

haha whoever gets to do the swim leg of an IM should be forced to wear a skirt the whole day or something \:D [1 hr effort vs 4-5+]

the full IM Louisville or at the very least half IM Muncie, Indiana is a goal of mine. Im there on the run, but I have a hard time training for the swim and bike with a 13 month old.

*side note* I read Dean Karnazes' Ultramarathon Man:Confessions of an all-night runner a couple years back, and it gives great motivation and insight on some badass runs (saw Ironmom posted the Western States)

Get a trainer and set that sucker up in the living room while the baby naps. Thats how I got all my bike training in for my 4 full IM's.

Cant help with the swimmimg part though...gotta get to the pool somehow. \:D

I'm more excited for 2015 than I've been for a season yet. I even made a new wallpaper for myself

May: Quad Rock 50M (11,572')
May: Golden Gate Dirty 30 50K (7,250')
June: San Juan Solstice 50M (12,856')
July: Mt Werner Classic 50K (6,300')
August: Squamish 50M (11,000')
September: Run Rabbit Run 100M (21,000')
November: JFK 50M (2,000')

4x 50M, 2x 50K and 1x 100M and just over 70,000' of vertical gain. It's gonna be an awesome summer of mountain shenanigans

is that the name? BC bike race? lol ill have to look it up.

id really like to do a MTB stage race like breck epic or pisgah stage race but the 600+ dollar entry fee plus travel expenses kinda puts a big negative on that unless i can get sponsor help. cant justify dropping a grand on one race
