Hey guys, I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, but would someone like to discuss a battery suitable for a track vehicle? A lightweight battery would be nice and something that's sealed as well. I haven't looked at the car in the past 5 weeks since the track day, and noticed today that the battery is leaking, so looks like it's time to replace it. According to AutoZone, the batteries for my car usually have 500-600 CCA, and most of the smaller batteries that I see online don't have that much. For instance, the a Braille 9 lbs battery only has 370 CCA. The car usually fires right up when it's cold, when it's hot sometimes, it misbehaves, so being able to lean on a starter for more than 5 seconds would be nice.

Did I read that correctly, or is that lithium battery 2.7 lbs?

Wow, I think I'll spend the coin then. This way I can ditch the relocation kit, put the battery in the original place, and save even more weight. That could add up to like 35 lbs. Amazing

Ended up getting an Odyssey PC680MJT after all. Found a distributor locally who had them for 140, so that seemed like the best deal for time being.

In case the subject returns, I have used lawnmower batteries, too. When I swapped the 4g63 into the Galant, I had to change battery location, and the lawnmower battery fit perfectly on the subframe. I ran it for 4-5 years with no issue. heat/cold didnt affect it. The biggest pain was the different connectors. I think it was just shy of 400CCA, which was plenty to crank a low CR 4-cyl.

That's pretty sweet. I keep my car on the tender when it's not in use. It's been pretty good at the track as well, no issues so far. The only time it ever ran out of juice was when alternator failed, and I ran it flat.
