Rogers is out of control with pricing - wanted me to move to a 130 dollar phone plan for a very very similar plan I have now that's 68 bucks just to try and leverage people shifting to the new iPhones. Such a scam.

wtf? What's your total bill for cell + phone (if any) + internet + tv? I'm at $80 Fido + $0 Rogers phone/tv/internet/HD + SD cable box + $10 upgrade 60GB -> unlimited internet. This all comes crashing come next year when my Rogers promo ends. mine did as well, and i called..apparently i did it on the LAST day they give percentage discounts.
talked to a VERY nice and helpful dude out west.
i went from paying $15x.xx a month for internet and cable with HD PVR to paying $14x.xx for BETTER internet (Hybrid Fibre 30, with 270GB bandwidth) & same package of TV with the upgraded PVR to Netbox 3.0, i ain't complaining.
i did the math realized it''s not worth it to change my sweet $60 6G Superplan for the cheap iPhone upgrade so i bought mine outright.
My old monthly bill break down...
Cell @ $74 + tax [$60 6GB Superplan + $14 for Voicemail/CallDisplay junk]
Internet @ $61 + tax [Whatever the old Express internet was. 60GB Monthly data transfer]
Cable @ $75 + tax [Digital VIP + HD Speciality + TMN/HBO + HD PVR]
My new monthly break down
Cell @ $74 + tax [same as before]
Internet @ $28 + tax ($62 @ 55% off) [Hybrid Fibre 30 with 270GB monthly data, including cable modem rental]
Cable @ $105 + tax (regular price with $23 off terminal rental) [same as before, but with Netbox 3.0 PVR]
Monthly total including tax is usually around $230 depending on what i go over in cell phone usage.

Electronic Box and Vbuzzer here. OTA. I pay like $50 a month for internet and phone and free TV. I was on the website and it said 29.95$ for the first 6 months 52.95$ per month after for the Cable Internet

Anyway, my breakdown:
$35 for Internet
$6 for phone (vbuzzer fixed that shit at last  , mother fuckers)
$50 for iphone w/ rogers after tax for 6gig data, not sure how many minutes? 350? caller display and all the other bullshit on corp plan. Iphone 6 through corp on same plan is $240 IIRC. Don't care to make the switch yet.
$0 for cable, we don't have any....except basic free thanks to zc911 mod  (I think it's 26 channels).

this is canada...some of the worst cell phone prices in the world.
I've been thinking of even ditching my personal plan because I don't want to use it and just go with my company phone. Fuck that $50/month.

I was thinking of either dropping to an uber cheap Rogers cable package, or looking for some kinda 'streaming' provider... I only watch a few channels anyway (yeah yeah, that's how they get you): CNN, TLC, Discovery, FoodTV, A&E, MuchMusic...
Looks like it'd be a shitty deal to buy your own Rogers cable boxes (HD, SD, no PVR) ... Hmph...

Split your coax connection coming into your house before it gets to your cable modem.
As for BEV? Get a buddy/friend/family member to order an extra receiver, install at your house and split the bill.

Just put a decent 2 way splitter on the line feeding your cable modem (antronix) is the one rogers normally uses. Connect one fees to your modem and the other to RF jack on TV. You should at least get basic cable (up to 29 or so)
I usually get up to 59-60, but some are missing inbetween. Sure beats paying for it.
