I love the M3, I love VMR V710's, and I've always wanted gunmetal because it looks good and my silver wheels are ALWAYS covered in brake dust. Put the three together and I'm not loving it. Is it because I'm not seeing it in person? WWCSi do? I'm nervous before the purchase as all my other wheels were purchased used.

If they are JWL certified, then yes.
Why not Apex's offerings? They have something in a similar style with variations of how concave it goes.

I find black wheels do make a car like the m3 look cheaper though.
You can always rock silver and use a wheel specific wax to deal with the brake dust. A simple hose off will do the trick.

Regardless, a wheel of this design is a bitch to clean, so simply changing to a darker color isn't going to do anything. You need to clean them often anyways to prevent the dust from baking onto it.

hot. sucks no lip on the rear but such is the design of the rim, looks good with the centre deeper in at least.

definitely not hot, those wheels in OP are played out and that design has aged big time imo. They look like something you'd pick up from Canadian Tire, dat american racing doe.

So many good options for the e92, I'd look elsewhere.

Someone posted this. These are awesome.
I think TR motorsports (tire rack) makes something similar

Again, not a BMW uniform XD

I'm not a big fan of the two other styles posted here. They don't have to be VMR's but I've got them now and they've been good and taken a lot of abuse, they are JWL. I've currently got VB3's and another set with a 3" lip that I'm not a fan of. I prefer concave than a lip.

Vas, you got any ideas?

c2k, to each their own I suppose. All I can say is at least two members here have spent significant money to own more than one E9x and there's something to that.

Depends on what you like, I tried to link a few pics from e90 post but it's a b!tch so i gave up.

Depends what you want, do you want a lip? stepped lip? concave? Even some 19" BBS LM reps would look great. I also like the stock wheels, but you don't have those. I don't know, lots of great choices out there, just don't do some pos american racing knock offs that people put on FWD turds.

I love them but at their price I'd want them to be perfect (offset, width, colour). Link?

On phone. I saw it on m3post. It's a square setup I believe.

I agree with you on the women comment, however it would just raise an eyebrow to hear that Kaley Cuoco/ Mila Kunis/ whatever just doesn't do it for someone. They're top tier women for a reason. Maybe you're the car version of a chubby chaser, who knows. To each their own.

There was more to it than that. Something to do with a t-bone steak and 4 or 5 Neons of varying years. I dunno... it sounded really complicated.

I don't like lips though, I like concave. This rules out the CH and LM's.

Still trying to find something I like more than this:

I have the wax. Works well.
It's not a true "wax" because that would just melt with the heat. This is heat tolerant and is of an anti static property. Brake dust simply can be hosed off. You can use the same compound on muffler tips.

http://www.wheelwax.ca/

Ghetto website, but I assure you it's legit. Some guy sells these out of his house in Thornhill.

As much as I think this looks great, I could use 19's (this is my car).

I'd remove the riceboy wing and the red stripe on the rims and I'd be set.

They're VMR VB3 csl reps in proper M3 offset. Definitely not available at canadian tire but to each their own. I've still not made up my mind so I'll rock these until I do.

I am just busting your balls bruh. It would be a shame to have such a nice and expensive car and then cheap out on wheels that's my point. The wheels you have now regardless of brand are just generic run of the mill boring wheels (IMO anyway). I'd rather roll te stock 19s over those, these are a downgrade.

Got to agree. Besides the optionally 19's are forged too and they come up often for sale. If I were to upgrade to larger wheels I would buy a set of the factory 19's since they are great bang for the buck.

^ever since you commented on the difference between the 18s and 19s for the e9x m3, I started to pay attention. I have to say the 18s look better.
They are not barftastic 2 tone (with machined face and black everywhere else...that is mega ghetto), and the curvature of how the 18s concave inward really suit the lines of the car. If only the 18s in the exact style and color came in a 19 inch size...

Yep I really like the style of the 18's. the optional 19's are gross, can't believe ppl actually paid more for that shit.

I'm not a fan of polished spokes. Only polish I ever want to see on a wheel is the lip.

This is a very subjective topic, there is form, there is function, there is preference, etc....but for the most part certain cars work best with a specific diameter wheel.

let's do a simple example.

EG, best suited with a 15" wheel imo even though 16" can look good I think a proper 15" is best:

Case in point:

Let's talk EK, most people go with 17", sure they work, but the body and car is best suited for 16". Here is Civic Dude's SIR with 15" rotas, simply don't work on the car, looks like shit imo (there aren't his wheels he was just trying them on at a meet)

EBP Si on regas in 16" MUCH MUCH better.

Moving on to M3's...big argument with e36 m3's is that 17's are perfect. This is a car where both 17 and 18 inch wheels work, i prefer how 18" fill out the wheel well but sure i'd love 17" for the cheaper tires...this car can go both ways:

Here are the bigger diameter options, which look amazing. I am torn between 17 and 18 but again, the bigger wheels tends to win IMO:

See the pattern here, the bigger wheel generally works as long as it's not something completely stupid.

Going back to the e9x...same shit the 18" wheel stock that's the equivalent of the E36 with a 17" or an EK with 15" or an EG with a 13" steelie. It's not OPTIMAL, matter of opinion or not, the e9x looks best with a 19" imo. I suppose people may not pay as much attention to detail as I do, but filling out the wheel well is pretty damn important for a nice look. I roll 18" on my e36 and I wouldn't have it other way. I've considered 17" square setup but that's only because of cheaper tire cost and ability to rotate the tires, not for looks.

Here is an e92 withm3 18" stock wheels. This to me is the equivalent of an EG on steelies, I'd throw them out or make them into winter wheels. They don't work with the car, it's like they are an afterthought and the BMW is known for putting shitty wheels on early year cars of any new gen that they release. Tell me these look better than 19" lol nope.gif

Even these stock ones look good, better than above:

So in the end, if someone is dropping $40k+ on one of the nicest cars you can buy in that price range and the last of the N/A M3's I simply can't comprehend how you can put on afterthought wheels or compromise on shit like this when they make the car. Whatever, just my two cents.

The stock e9x 18's don't work on white at all. I'm with you on that one. The stock 18's only look ok with dark colours IMO. If my car was white I would definitely be looking into new wheels.

I am in agreement that the e9x looks best with 19's as well... I really liked the 19" setup I had on the 335d

I don't have factory 19's. Right now I have:

18's with snows (came with the M3, they're fine)
18" CSL replicas (from the 330i)
19" Beyern Mesh gloss black (came with the M3, up for sale)

those are some nice wheels you (Vas) posted, and they're a step above I agree, however I don't want anything polished on the car. There's some CF and black, not looking to add anything shiny. This is what you seem to lean towards and I like, but not on my own car. This is where my problem lies.

The reality is that in a perfect world, if one can truly afford an m3, then one can deal with the consumables. You got mega gas burning, more oil capacity, more weight (tires, brakes, wheel bearings, tie rods, ball joints, bushings all fail sooner) etc.

So with that in mind, I'm with you on the type r. You can beat on it and know that it is not costing you a lot of wallet pain. Though driving a v8 beast around a track, you enjoy every penny spent \:D

OK then, getting away from cast wheels, how about some forgestar F14's in super deep concave rear?

On a non-M E92.

And yes I'm CERTAIN a Type-R would have MUCH LOWER operating costs. But who cares.

They are decent, if the fronts were more concave it would work..it would be sick as a squared setup. As is, meh, stick to your american racing rims

These were 245's and 275's in the picture above which are not aggressive for an M but are the max you'd put in a non-M. I had 265's on my 330i at one point, depends on the offset and how flush you want to be.

I'm not having a hard time finding wheels, I'm having a hard time finding something I am in love with for a good price (new cast, used forged) with a proper offset. The forgestar are in Utah. I also like these Morr's which are local and would need a 10mm spacer.

just pick something for yourself. All these wallies here are going to have differing opinions. You are on the right track in general*not looking at canadian tire* and really cant go wrong with what you have posted up.

FWIW forgestar is not forged. it's roll formed. If forging is like synthetic oil, roll forming is akin to semi synthetic. It shares a word, but it's not even close.

Buying used wheels are hard for the M3 since the offsets are different from the regular 3's. I wouldn't use spacers though.

Wes, just get the APEX Arc-8 wheels, in the proper size and offset for your car and call it a day. They are light, look good, relatively cheap and hit up all the right spots. Look good in gloss black too \:D

I'd run them on my own car, but to put the concave ones as a squared setup requires some minor body work and I hate sh!t like that...otherwise I'd be all over them.

So FUCK, the wheels I want have a 10 week wait and I'm told they're usually late at that, so I may get something else for this year (if they can find the fit and colour and style in inventory, apparently that's a challenge for the 11" wide rears) that's not as premium and order the dream wheels over the winter.

I don't hate BBS, I don't like lips and I like concave wheels to an extent. I actually thought about picking up these (local used) but they're 20's (little too big) and the wrong colour.

wowowowowow, that would look so hot if you have them powdercoated in gloss black with a red bbs center cap. FUUUU

Maybe just do plastidip to preserve resale value, those are nice wheels.

eddie, ya those are ok but $$$$$$$$ and the rubber is toast. For that $$ I'd want the right width and offset.

I've found something I think. Will post pics if it works out. It's nothing that's been discussed here.

Titty those are sweet wheels, but at over $8000 for the 4 rims I don't think so. I've been dealing with simply A LOT over the last week. Either wait times (10+ weeks) or no inventory has been an issue (colour, offset, width, style). I've missed out on a few things in the US I've liked. I managed to "firm up" something else locally tonight.

ok.

pictures don't do them justice IMO. And I know, it's filthy. Yes, they're real Volk's, wrapped in new Michelin Pilot Super Sports. 285 in the rear, 255 up front.

The Forgestar's I want have too long of a wait (maybe September?), and anything I sort of liked that was a cast wheel would have had to be refinished (in part, no sets of 4 available in North America) to get a full set in my fitment/style/colour. The TE-37's were the compromise while I order Forgestar's over the winter while having a set I can sell next year if I want, rather than sitting on shitty cast wheels.

not bad, for bmw i prob wouldnt do volk (only cause seen on so many jap cars, and ive had them before).

also not a fan of black on white...if they were a nice deep metallic gray, 'hyperblack' whatever you call it or chrome then unnnfff yes...looks good on white.

Thanks. Going to go clean it up soon, stickers and caps about to be ordered.

Let me also take the opportunity to say:

Lightweight wheels + good rubber >>>>>>>> cast wheels + descent rubber
(TE-37 + Michelin PSS >>>> VMR VB3 + Falken FK452)

Ride quality, throttle response, noise and harshness, EVERYTHING is better.

LOL spray and rub....no happy ending

from the looks of the pics, your car needs a "new" car detail. basically try to get a used car back to looking like it was new.

Fuck tell me about it! I had to compound my car 2x and polish 2x to get the paint back to "new". Had to wet sand quite a few scratches too (OCD issues).

I tried the clay bar on my old car (which I still have yet to put up for sale) and it didn't remove any rail dust at all. Didn't get dirty either, wondered about if it's the wrong brand or EUE, WTF?

So you want it for a weekend eh? Heh, how about we do a spot together and I finally buy you that beer (AFTER you've taken it out)? I've never wet sanded on a car I care about but there are a few spots that could use some ever so slight love.

I'm focusing on the clay bar for the purpose of this conversation, the car is covered in surface rust mainly on and around the back. I do have all the pads/compounds/buffer, they're at RIC3BOY's place actually.

Damnit, can't see the pictures at work. Using imagination!

Wes, I still have your PC. Your Optimum Opti-Seal and Polish II are toast, they turned into water and clumps (been sitting far too long). The Compound II is still good though. I have your pads in the basement in a bag, but given your new pride and joy, I'd order a new set if I were you (have you ever washed them bro?!).

I actually got my own LC pads of my own last year (yellow/orange/white/black/green/blue), came up to $60 shipped I believe. I'll be ordering some M105/M205 and Klasse HGSG among other things, X3 needs some love ASAP!

I emailed you some pics, will get a decent one today though.

Invite me over when you do the X3.

Can't find that wash mitt locally?!
