Had to suspend one of my guys with pay due to him hitting a fellow peer. This shit is not taken lightly obviously...but god damn, these people are grown up men

This is the worse that I have seen so far in my career...usually it's just people bitching but this was a whole new level. Hopefully buddy doesn't go postal and Newtown the place up.

I see warehouse racks/concrete floors/industrial equipment...

This is a factory:

Same shit different product lol

Don't want to go into details on the internet. Lets just say he hit a guy above the shoulders.

You guys do realize that next to domestic violence, workplace violence is one of the highest forms of violence right?

lol back in the day i had a summer job at the government shared serviced bureau. it was me, this other skinny brown kid, and a black guy a bit older. we were all about the same-ish age.

we useto shoot the shit about cars, me and the brown kid shared an office, desks across from eachother so we would both be sitting in each corner.

anyways, the black guy, pretty big, was running his mouth about some old corvette he had just bought and was talking smack about how he was going to the street races, and the skinny brown kid was talking smack about how his vette would break down, and he would walk all over it with his brother's subaru. you can see the anger building up in the black guys face like he's about to rage.

so they were going back and fourth, and all of a sudden the black guy SNAPS and charges the brown kid. all i see since i'm behind the computer screen is the walls starting to shake LOL

black guy has brown kid in a head lock and he's screaming for his life "LET ME GO!!!" he does and grabs the brown kids's arm backwards and starts prying it up oppsite of how the elbow bends, i'm suprised he didn't snap it in 4. kid starts yelling "YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK MY ARM!!! YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK MY ARMMMM!!!!"

the black guy lets go and the brown kid runs out crying and goes home. black guy gets canned.

yeah, honda (and many other co's) were all over that workplace violence/harassment shit last year, as i think the gov. put new rules/regs into place for it. they had signs up, stuff on our intranet, etc. then a couple of months ago, dude close to our dept. got canned for racial comments to another (white to black), which in turn led our co. making all of us suffer with just idiotic online policy reviews with a quiz at the end, some shit lasting up to 1.5 hrs wtf. really?!

Don't be so ignorant. An investigation needs to be done, hence the suspension with pay.

does it matter if it's a factory...who physically assaults someone at work.

they don't pay me enough to care that much about what i do...

if anyone would get physical, i would assume it's someone at Risky's company with all the yelling and shit that goes on there.

well generally people working jobs like the OP's crew are uh... not the sharpest tools in the shed ;\)

Its definitely less likley in a corporate setting(though it obviously still happens) especially harassment. I generally dont have issues like that since Im not an easy target for workplace bullying. Im not gonna put up with that shit

Every company I've worked in I've seen tempers flare up, and these are your high profile accountants/cfo pushing crazy coin. Happened at the F500 i worked in, happened in all companies i've been at to date. I think it's more because the environment Finance works in. Our deadlines are tighter, accountability is higher, people are overworked, etc. It happens.

At my current co, looking at the engineering dept for example, i don't think anyone has stayed after 4:30pm. Everyone is laid back, etc. Completely different from where I am.

Never seen a physical confrontation though.

NO commission where I am now. Some of the folks that work under me aren't the brightest, they are however hard working people. Confrontation happened in plain sight. Turned physical after some verbal action lol.

Left me no choice...it's his ass or mine if I don't report it.

Obviously...as opposed to getting in shit? I manage these people and it's my obligation to do so. In the past people died already due to workplace violence at my company. Easy for lemmings to just turn a blind eye I suppose

I'm with Bill..

We had two guys arguing just recently at my work, they pull out of the parking lot (its two lanes wide), and one signals the other to pull over. They both pull over and just start duking it out right there on the side of the road! On guy was an "mma" fighter and broke other dudes orbital bone with his steel toe boots. They're both suspended without pay. \:\)

Factory workers are the worst. \:\)

No, just across the road. Happened right at the end of the shift though, 1000+ people driving by while you ufc it out over some dumb unimportant shit.

Its funny.

Threats at my work will get you a 3-day unpaid suspension. Actually fighting gets you terminated. Precious metal thefts (copper or platinum) terminated, driving offences, 1 to 3-day suspension, not wearing your PPE, 3-day, etc.

Violence, theft and health and safety are serious business when you are #70 of the Fortune 500 list.
