So it looks like we have to do an OBD test now rather than the current tailpipe sniff. This is going to suck for the Collola we have that has a check engine light on.

I've been reading that the OBD scan is going to be a bit PITA. I don't know a ton about the systems, but it appears they're pretty damn intelligent, and passing won't be as easy as hitting the "reset codes" button on your scanner and driving into the facility:

Further, the new test checks the status of the self-tests, also known as monitors. If the monitor self-tests haven’t been successfully completed, a Drive Clean fail will ensue. Erasing the on-board computer memory with a scan tool or by disconnecting the battery will clear all the monitors and again yield an automatic Drive Clean failure.
Once cleared, it could take two to four days of combined city and highway driving to allow the monitors to complete self-tests on most well-running vehicles. So, don’t wait until the last moment to get your car e-tested. Should your vehicle fail, it may take several days to complete the necessary repairs and get the monitors ready for a retest.
Sounds like someone can make some good money learning how to, ahem, handle OBD-II systems from their garage.

Such a bullshit system. One issue I have is most vehicles have a 2-trip logic system, meaning it has to see the same issue twice before triggering a hard code. Apparently the drive clean test will flag rediness or soft codes. Even if there isn't a faulty componant you could still fail.

No. its oem computer based.
Its if you are running a standalone that doesnt have obd protocol where youll have issues(aem ems,haltech etc)

Not all locations are doing the new test yet. AND if the car is older than 97 itll go on the rollers.

The KPro does not change the OBDII scan protocol

Fact is: Jan 1, 2013 the roller test is dead.

CT is still running the old way. As per my thread we already had on this topic Oil changers is the only confirmed place by anyone posting here that is doing the new test .
