Just signed up for my first.

What do do to prepare, for those who've gone? Goggles? Preferred shoes?

What a blast. About 3.4 miles. Took us about 38min...lots of traffic and stalls and we started in the back. Will definitely be doing more.

From all the ads I see, shirts are against the rules, a chiseled 6 pack is required, as is a bandana tied around your head.

Your shoes (definitely) and probably everything else you wear is going to get ruined. The run and course itself isn't that bad, most people who showed up for the one I did were drunk/hungover. Just go have fun.

You don't get electrocuted in this one, unless they changed it. That's the tough mudder.

Be prepared to wait in long lines for each obstacle.

Basically a sprint for 1/4-1/2 mile and wait?

They seem to be getting bigger and bigger in popularity, so I'm guessing the long wait times at obstacles accompany that.

If you're slow and start in the back then yeah. Start in the front and beat the crowd.
