Recently i've been rearming my arsenal to get into wedding photography. thinking about picking up either another 580exii or maybe two 600rt ex's and dropping my 430exii. that way i'll have the two 600rt ex's and a 580exii.
I already have a 24-70 and 70-200. I am looking at either a 100mm L 2.8 Macro or 17-40 L as my next lens purchase. Maybe throwing down for a 35mm or 85mm prime as well to get the faster glass.
So, with all that in mind, I'm considering my upgrade path and selling my 60d to fund another 5dII. Should I do that, or continue on with the 60D for now and eventually add a 5d3 to my stable? I already have two wedding inquiries for next year but I haven't really marketed myself that much for it. I got one through craigslist and one through a referral. Before you all ask, I'm offering a special on my rate while i build my wedding portfolio, so it's on par with the crappy craigslisters that are out there offering the same rate, but instead of the stuff they churn out at a cut rate, I'm actually looking to improve and attempt to be on-par with some of the much better and more expensive wedding photogs in the area.
Anyway.... maybe I should just stick with what I have and be happy with it for now, until the need arises. I think I will need an additional light though, maybe a few softboxes and triggers as well...

sell the 60d, get a 5d2, get a 35 and 100 macro. 90% of the time you won't need wider than a 24 on a FF; but if you do, u can always rent a 17-40 or 16-35 in a pinch.

I like the articulating screen of the 60D and the wireless flash control. Plus I use my 10-22 for nightclub photography so I would have to replace it with a 17-40mm. I guess I could sell that as a one-for-one. Maybe I'll wait for the next deal that comes along for the 5D2 and part out my 60d.

well, I did it. I purchased a deal from B&H with a printer and lens. I can get the price of the camera down to $1449 after 400 rebate and selling the lens. Not too shabby considering the going rate of a used body is around $1500.
Posted my 60D, grip, memory cards and 10-22 for sale online... that should cover the cost of the new camera... ugh!

For me, I would have kept the crop. What if you get a Catholic wedding where you are restricted to the balcony of the church and even the 70-200 won't get you close enough? There are times when a crop sensor is nice. Although you can't beat the ISO capabilities of full frame.

Full-frames have so many pickles now, you can just do your cropping in post.
I've never been restricted to the balcony shooting a wedding.

The only thing I would keep a crop for is shooting sports. Otherwise, a 1.4 or 2.0 TC would do the job on a FF with my 70-200.

people just automatically assume crop is inferior in virtually all aspects. i prefer it for its wider DOF for video, especially when using f/1.2 or 1.4 apertures. pulling focus on razor thin DOF is hard enough. the crop gives a little more room for error w/o losing any light. for stills, a crop is still pretty darn impressive. took this on a lowly crop 7D the other day...
*granted, i want to skip FF altogether and make the jump to MF digital for this kind of work

I loved my 60D. I miss it. Sold it last week. Gotta get a 17-40 or 16-35 now, because I really miss having the UWA...

I'm loving my 15 fisheye! I let a friend borrow it over the weekend for a pinup shoot in downtown Chicago and she fell in love with it as well

Why so much hate on the 60D? I heart mine and its been flawless since day one for me. I used to shoot professionally (went to school with digital (Doug) so I know cameras. For the money I just love that camera.
