Well its finally that time, i set an apointment to dyno tune my CA legal 2000 civic si with 40k miles (on April 3), i want to see if anyone gets close to what my actual numbers will be........not really hoping for much just for it to run good, it will be tuned by Modacar in livermore CA on 91 octane, with my catalytic converter on, i do have a test pipe but i dont plan to run illegal maybe if i go to a drag strip. I did order a Skunk2 66mm TB but canceled since it was going to take like 3 months to get it (backordered) + i hear it doesnt really do much for what i got....right?

So good luck guess the HP and torque!

mods for dyno:
Skunk2 Megapower Racing Exhaust
AEM V2 Cold air intake
Skunk2 S1 cams
Skunk2 cam gears
Skunk2 Pro intake manifold
Hondata IM gasket
Greddy 4-2-1 header
Hondata P28 ECU
Hondata S300

what type of dyno do they use? (dynapack, dynojet, mustang...)

on a roller dyno i'll guess around 150-155 hp
on a dynapack i'll go with 155-160 hp

good luck.

Well heres the update 152hp / 108 torque, i was making more but the curve on the graph was dipping low on some parts but the 152 ran better, they advanced my intake 3 and advanced exhaust 1...what ever its 1 more hp than i expected so its all good ha ha ha, i think im going to need a new clutch soon...any ideas

looks pretty good to me.

how u liking it?

the two things i'd change to pick u a little more power is to get a high flow cat & a jdm itr header (or some other header with a 2.5" collector). but is it really worth the cost to u.......? Plus either of those would make u not smog legal in CA, at least for the visual.

well its 1000X better than not being tuned, if u see the dyno graph u can see i was losing power right arround 5500rpm, now its faster sounds different, but my idle is a bit weird when my engine is cold, because they ajusted my cams now i have my rpms moving allover untill it warms up....well its not no 181.5 whp \:\( but it works for me ha ha ha

every dyno is different...

seems like a solid setup. my car idles kind of weird too when its cold, after the tuning. it also seems to hate it when i fill up on gas. it just wants to stall out for like a minute afterwards so i have to keep my foot on the gas when its idling then.

i might go back and tune it again with more parts this time they will focus more on power not on air/fuel, since half the time thats what they ajusted so it ran good

Sounds like a similar setup to what I'm running. I just picked up my cams and cam gears (S2S1) about a week or so ago, and I'm just waiting to get them installed then tuned. Did you have a dyno run before you installed any of your parts? I'd be cool to see how much you actually gained over stock.

Anywa best of luck with it and I'll definately be following your build

well my old si ran a 16.4 with just a short ram intake and chopped off muffler. then added a dc sports 4-1 header and cheap high flow cat and skunk2 60mm exhaust and never ran it the track but it did put down 130.8 whp and 98.0 tq

I do remember reading somewhere that 99-00 Si's typically run 15's stock in the 1/4 mile....maybe 15.7 or 15.6? I forget exactly.

susposed to be 15.7 stock. but that is highly dependent upon the driver and track.

Well i finally made it out to Sac Raceway, and it was fun but my numbers were not that great, but then again everyone at the track was saying it was to hot, and it was making everyone run slower but i don't know about that. It was my first time out there so i guess i need practice but my best # were 15.5@89mph....
Heres a short clip of a few of my races

it takes time to perfect ur launches. U'll prob pick up a few tenths with more practice, since this was ur first time.

BUt in my experience the Si isn't that great for drag racing. I've personally driven several other hatches & crx's down the strip that were making less power then my Si, but I ran them quicker then my Si.

Si's are pretty heavy compared to other civics & crx's. The b16 lack of torque doesn't help u get off the line to well. If it makes u feel better my best run in mine was 14.8 @ 94mph.

Yeah i want to go back when i get a new clutch, and test pipe on the car see if i can make 14.9, but yeah i think my problem was my launch.....i keeped on spining the tires (falken 615R) @25psi, i tried 3k and 5k launch but i dont think i did it quite right. What did u launch at? and psi?

Sounds like you bog out in first gear from the video. What was your 60'?

Doesnt seem like elevation is the problem either.

I went from a 16.3 @ 90 to 15.9 @ 88 once I went with a better clutch, LSD, 4.7 FD.

keep the psi a little higher o the falkens. they have stiff side walls & deflaiting them doesn't help.

I used nitto drag radials for quite some time when i was into drag racing. grip wise they are similar to the falkens, the nittos just have softer sidewalls.

I have over 400 drag strip passes under my belt & the best advice i can give you is to keep practicing. Dont be afraid to try different things & find out what works best. The technique that nets me the best times actually feels like its pretty slow due to the wheel spin. but it results in the quickest 60' times & 1/4 miles.

I launch real hard compared to most people. But if it helps you here is what i do.
-Prestage
-wait for other driver to prestage
-rev up to 6500-7000 rpms w/ clutch in
-slowly release clutch until the car starts inching foward (yes this is hard on a clutch)
-once the 2nd stage lights up (ur staged) pull up on the e-brake but keep the release push button on it held in
-this will stop ur car in place because u still have the clutch slipped out so it will want to continue to inch foward
-once the 3rd light lights up, release the e-brake & let the clutch out quickly but dont completly dump it.
-keep steady on gas & slowly depress it further as the tires begin hooking up more.

the reason to slip the cluch is because it is easier on the transmission. yes it is harder on the clutch, but clutches are cheaper then transmissions & axles combined. if you keep the clutch all the way down & then dump it you will break axles & damage the trans, if you use good tires that hook up well.
plus this allows u to preset your launch rpm before u are fully staged. once you are staged you should be focused on the lights & not your tach & rpms.

as can be expected ur 60's are terrible. cut those down & u'll c the 1/4 come down significantly.

With the power you're making, you should be running low 15s at least. Those trap speed suggest somewhere in the mid 15s range, of course there are so much variables to consider that one cannot be too accurate. But those 60' times are killing your times no doubt.

I think the car, in the condition you ran it, is capable of 15.1x with no additional enhancers.
