Work's a little slow, so I brought in my hard drive today. Just went looking through some photos I took in NYC on NYE two years ago. Here are my favourites.
As usual, shot with my D50. I think these were with my 17-55. Both the panda and the walkway were from the hip.

The more I look at my pics, there is blood on his feathers, so he was probably digesting lunch. Hopefully it wasn't one of the sparrows in the yard.
Sorry for the quality. I was up against the wall shooting through a window with ice on it. That's why it's such a bad angle. He was cool with the pics until I started moving.
Nice pics above.

Mike, you have your own little ecosystem there.
Feed small birds, feed big birds with small birds.
I'd gladly sacrifice a few sparrows to see raptors like those!!!

One of the beautiful features of the bald eagle is they only hunt fish, and I haven't the slightest emotional attachment to fish, so watching them never gives me that momentary sadness of the kill. That's probably part of the attraction of big game herbivores as well. I don't hate carnivores, but there's always a tinge of melancholy to the circle of life.
Bald eagles eat anything, 90% of their diet is fish, but I've seen them take out ducks, snakes, mice, whatever.
They are definitely scavengers.

They'll eat anything dead, but I've never seen them hunt anything else. Whereas the closely related golden eagle will fuck up damn near anything it can bring down.

Last year he spoke at our school, and I asked him for a print that he demo'd during the presentation...to which he replied an adamant NO! This year, I got him to sign the promo poster lol. Quite inspiring to hear him. He is at the top fashion world, and has also studied under the great Ansel Adams himself.

It is weird knowing something that can fly out of nowhere and take a small pet right outside my door. (and I'm feeding it) I walked back towards the woods yesterday and saw all kinds of trails and little dens where I'm guessing chipmunks and stuff hide out. Come to think of it, I have never seen a squirrel in my yard, and they are everywhere down here. Guess they have a legitimate reason to be spooked.
Just looked outside and there's a pile of bird feathers frozen to the grass about 15 feet from the door. Doh!

FAA used to bust my balls on the ramp constantly for not having my badge displayed properly, etc. I quit almost overnight to help out an ex's business and only took a few cell phone pics my last day on that job.

Wife wanted a new walkaround lens (24-70L not enough?) This thing is almost as heavy.

The image looks good, but that's a very odd, expensive lens. What's the story behind deciding on it?

+1.
Thinking about ditching my 14-24 (hardly ever use it) for something in the 18 or 24 prime range, and just can't lay it down for the zeiss despite having a hassy and the 100 f2. Nothing faster than 2.8 makes it kinda useless when I need to open it up wide open.
