I just ignore people with anger issues. No sense getting drawn into their messed up world. If I had been in your situation I would've kept on going and ignored the guy on the horn. If he's got anger issues, let him deal with his demons. My time is more valuable than to bother stopping for such an idiot. As for your "tail between your legs" comment? As far as what people think, believe me I am the last guy to care what people think...believe it or not. For me it's not the honking that pissed me off the most, it's the idiot who goes around tormenting people like a maniac. I can handle his honking, what if it was my gf/mother who both get super nervous when someone honks at them. That guy will get his, one day he will pull that crap on someone that will catch him and beat his ass for being an SOB.
Also, what idiot in his right mind goes on to block a person trying to change lanes. I don't think I've ever in my driving career have gone on to screw another motorist over without a reason, I generally keep a lot of distance between the car in front of me as is so people always get in front...I don't care

for the most part Toronto drivers are pretty courteous in that regard...imo. you're joking, right?  nope. 100% accurate get out there on the 401 instead of going up and down erin mills pkwy 
In all honesty I find the drivers nearing the east side of toronto and 401 are huge idiots.

I *loathe* driving on the 401 cuz people really arent polite when they drive and when I need to change a lane, bam somebody speeds up and blocks me from getting into their lane or when I allow them into my lane, I dont get a wave back or a thank you for letting em in my lane like wtf?
oh for the record, I drive on the 401 from work after 7am and to work around 630pm at night.
Tonight's drive was a fuck. I had to cut somebody off since he wouldnt let me in his lane when I needed to get in. He got all pissed off and I grinned and pointed my finger and laughed and waved at him. Boy did that get him even more pissed off? hahaha, thanks for the suggestion.

I feel like a friggin saint after reading this thread.
I am probably the most laid back driver when it comes to ish like this. Barely use my horn, won't make contact with other drivers if they do some stupid ish and I barely get upset when I see people doing stupid crap. I also let truckers in my lane all the time and slow down and give them the highbeam flash if I see them wanting to get over...
I guess I have a high tolerance to the drivers today, nothing worth getting in a scrap over. /being a pussy

YES! I don't know what it is about the brand - but I think I've been refused to let into a lane (even with plenty of signalling) more times in the x3 than i do in the POSubaru.
If its a car near my blind spot (or just a bit more than 1 car length behind), unless I'm desperate to cut over or I know they have no intention of charging up (after 3-5 seconds of signalling), I usually back off and let them by then go behind them; but I find that more often the car behind them (2 car lengths away will charge up).
It's f'n annoying.
