I don't beleive you can upgrade to a big brake kit unless you plan to run 17's all the time.

On the subject of bigger brakes,have you thought of fitting 1998 onwards DC2 Integra Type R calipers and carriers and having the larger 5stud discs redrilled to 4 stud.It would make a great upgrade

Handling was really dependent on air pressure. Higher the better, but you will sacrifice traction. Understand a big soft sidewall wasn't design for handling. You need to pick one or the other.
As for life, most people were seeing between 4-8k on a set. All depends on driving habits of course.
8k would be REALLY stretching it imo.
