On the way to work today my car decided to throw a CEL and not allow me to add any gas until I let off of the gas pedal. After that the CEL light went away and the car drove like normal. This occured as I travelled over a pothole on the road surface. I am running an lsvtec with obd1 Hondata.

Could it be a potential wiring issue or a TPS going bad?

Any thoughts?

It throws a CEL but Hondata automatically clears the code..

Hondata does not automatically clear the code. Also helps to know which hondata unit you are using.

You could have a soft code or possibly something is set within the hondata to flash the CEL under certain conditions.

To further clarify: the Hondata system will throw a cel until I let off of the gas. After I let off of the gas, I am able to accelerate.

Again, it sounds like some sort of protection within the hondata.

If you are not sure, take it to your tuner and have them check it for you.

Hmm I can always do that but he is 250 miles away. It seems to be an ignition or wiring issue. I went through the engine bay and checked all connections and everything seems to be ok. The problem still persists however.

so to element jumper harness or ecu issues do you have a factory ecu?id swap that in and see if that fixes your problem.if not maybe it will hold a code so you can found out whats going on.

I do have a factory ecu and I plugged it in last night. I dont like to start the vehicle with that ecu because all of the components have been changed. It did not throw a cel and I ran to see if there were any pending codes and their were not.
