Think it is possible?

I am one of those unlucky people who look like they weigh 230lbs but actually weigh 270lbs. Dense I guess?

I'm heading to Charlotte August 21st, and would like to be at least 30lbs lighter, but I'm heading for 50. Three years ago, I lost 50lbs from Jan 1 to March 1. I don't eat bad at all, but I have a desk job and just don't move around much during the day.

I'm looking for any hints on eating/snacks/ways to exercise at work other than walks and stuff, which I do take.

Just wondering what you guys think.

Fast 3 days a week. Seriously. Also, eat 1800 calories per day.

What is the benefit in fasting 3 days a week?

Famine diet?

It has nothing to do with starving yourself. It's just an easy way to cut calories. It won't harm your metabolism, as you'll be eating on the days in between.

I'd imagine you could lose at least 25 in a month doing this, and another 10 if you start today/tomorrow, and another 15 in August. That's 50 by August 21st.

The hardest part used to be portion control. It will take some serious will power to get down to eating less and less.

The great thing about fasting is that the longer you do it, the easier it becomes to go without food.

I used to get a lot of flack from my old doctor, because she just saw the number on the paper and gave me shit about my weight. My current doctor said there is no way that my body mass will allow me to be under 230lbs without looking sickly.

I've heard of diets utilizing a 3 day fast before hand. On fasting days, what do you drink? Just water, or some sort of juice?

Not really, provided you are:

Getting adequate protein: average 100-120g per day, obviously you have to make up for the deficit on non-fasting days, but it really just takes an average.

and

Doing resistance training: This will signal the muscles that they need to hang on to that mass. It's training that maintains muscle mass even if you aren't fasting (think about how much a muscle will atrophy if you break your arm and put it in a cast... disuse makes the muscle shrink, even if you're eating plenty of protein and calories).

If you have fat to lose, then you have energy to spare. Now, if you're at absurdly low body fat levels and try this, yeah, you'll lose muscle. But not if you have fat to burn -- that's what it's there for; to provide energy.

Juice = calories

I drink sugar-free kool-aid or water.

Pretty accurate. I was 244lbs on June 8th. On the same scale, I'm 229 today. I'm eating a no-carb 800 cals a day, lifting heavy and running 3 miles daily. Goal is 199lbs July 31st.

I lost 40 lbs from October 26 to December 31. I was able to lose 60 by the beginning of February. I didn't start as high as you, so you may be able to lose it faster. I just changed my diet (low carb)- no working out (I physically couldn't...needed spinal surgery and could barely walk let alone try and exercise).

with diet and exercise, there's no reason you couldn't pull that off between now and then.

I'm starting Monday. Mainly because I won't be in town this weekend. We'll see what happens, I am down 5lbs since Monday just tapering down and watching my intake so we'll see what happens.
