I'm cross posting this from OT, b/c I know alot of you guys don't hit OT and I wanted to share, even though I don't post in SvA that often, I still check in daily.

Continuation from this build thread.

Also, to update some people from last year, I had a 30r on the car that made 509whp/357wtq on 110 octane.

Before I get into discussing the car, I would like to thank a few people in no particular order.

Corey Parrish from Slowmotionmotorsports - I've dealt with Corey and Slowmotion for many years now, and a few different cars. Each and every time has been an awesome experience. I can't say enough how Corey's hard work and dedication puts him in an elite group of tuners across the country. If you are in the greater Columbus, OH area, make it a point to contact Corey, he will certainly treat you right !!

Jeff Evans from Evans Tuning - Jeff is one of the more knowledgeable guys in the field today. I've done some business with Jeff, and he has always given me the best price with superior advice, and is super quick to return pm's/emails as well.

Tony Palo from T1 Race Development - Tony, like Jeff and Corey has an extreme work ethic. He always answers any questions I may have, and stands behinds the products he sells.

Justin Cobb - Justin has always been there for me, even when I haven't deserved it. If he had his own shop, I'd put him in the same league as Corey, Jeff and Tony w/o question. I've bounced so many ideas off him, one of the smartest guys I know.

Adam Myers & James Nigh - Since my tune was on a Wednesday, it was tough for people to attend due to work and other obligations, and due to some last minute scheduling conflicts had these 2 guys stepped up and came along with me, I wouldn't have went alone. It's a 2.5hr drive one way, with a truck/trailer.

S2Ki Forced Induction Crew - All I can say is thanks. If I've spoke to ya in the past through posts or pm's you know who you are, thank you. You guys have offered alot of insight and help.

Thanks again everyone.

Now onto the car.

The day started EARLY, we were on the road by 7:15am. My apt was 10:00am, we got there about 10:15am.

Got out stretched, unloaded while Corey finished up another car on the dyno.

We got a quick lunch @ Wendy's, lol, and when we got back, closer to noon we were getting started.

After cleaning up partial throttle maps, coming from my 30r, we started to make some power.

With the boost solenoid off, or spring pressure of 8psi, it was creeping to 12-13lbs by redline.

At this point, we are feeling pretty confident about it making power. We kept pushing, and ended up making some more power. This setting is my low boost setting.

Before we started to really get cranking on it, we decided we better throw my knock sensor back in. Last spring when I was doing the clutch install, I snapped it off, and never replaced it. However before it got crazy we decided to put it back in. While we were doing this, we saw a huge mess of oil under the car. Turns out the oil return was leaking on the hose end. I was using the black vinyl hose. We spent almost 2 hrs pulling the compressor housing off, and replacing the hose with the ss braided line. It's a good thing we added the knock sensor when we did, as we were down almost a 1qt at the time.

We had a lengthly discussion on using the 110 octane fuel that I brought, or continuing on the meth tune. It was 9:30pm by now, and a race tune would take another 1-2 hrs..so I figured why not. The car was responding well, IAT's, ECT's, and knock were all within acceptable ranges. IDC was getting up there a little bit, so we added 5% or so on the BAP, and off we went.

Once we hit the 24psi mark the car started to break up heavily around 6-8k and we were forced to turn it back down to 23psi. We even put in new plugs, gapped them down and even upped the dwell 2%.

The final numbers.

By this time, it was close to 12:00a, after being there for over 14hrs STRAIGHT, Corey and I took it around the block. It was very chilly, even though it was PERFECT weather all day, and on 23psi, lol. It hit boost and instantly jumped out..lol..so much for that..haha.

Packed it up, drove home and walked in the door @ 3:30am.

More pics/vids to come.

Here are some pictures from dyno day.

If the car was stock, the gearing is GREAT, once it's boosted they SUCK. Waaaay to short. I have to shift into 5th in the 1/4 on a 6spd car.

Kills my ET's and traps.

They have 4.10's from the factory if that gives you any indication.

I was working on cleaning it up over the weekend.

Fluorescent light on black paint, and all this is BEFORE any wax, just wash/clay/polish/glaze/seal.

Waxing is going on tonight.

What does it run in the quarter? I assume you haven't ran it with the new power. Also how does the stock drivetrain handle the abuse?

Haven't ran it yet...

Rears are sketchy @ stock power levels, and trannies seem to start having problems 650+.

But of course like anything else, it's all how you actually drive it.

Preload/etc...and it seems to last longer.

I thought you ran it since you said you have to shift to fifth in the quarter. So is it power through the trans for extended periods (heat buildup) or torque that breaks the trans? I'm not trying to nit pick, just wondering what the failure mode is. You can Any solutions for the rear end on the car?

While I have no comments about how your tuning your car, you're tuning your cat(s?) all wrong. Meow mix? You're tuning your car with meth and/or race gas, and tuning your cats with chicken beaks and ground up miscellaneous trimmings/droppings/chemicals.

Time to step up to blue buffalo (or at least nutro/science diet).

That was last year on a different turbo and tune.

I was still forced to shift into 5th, and was trapping aaround 118mph on 425whp.

To be honest I am not sure what kills the car, I know 5th is a trouble gear...but as far as what..I haven't found that out "yet" \:\(

Rearend solutions....there is a guy on s2ki.com that rebuilds the oem unit for a less than 1/2 what other bigger names want...and I have seen awesome reviews..so I'll more than likely go that route.

I am thinking your car would run close to 200 in the mile, but it may be gear limited or aerodynamically unstable.

Here is my gearing.

Taken from this site btw --> http://www.turnzero.com/technical_resources.php?resource=gear_calculator

1st
39.7 mph

2nd
60.8 mph

3rd
83.9 mph

4th
107 mph

5th
131.8 mph

6th
162.4 mph

Changed tire size to 255/40/17 and rev limit to 8500.

No freakin way I would make 200, lol.

Well tell your parents that if they don't start buying the right cat fuel they may be setting themselves up for a rear-end rebuild of their own lol vet bills.

Seriously though, I'm sure cats can live forever on Meow Mix... it just grates on my nerves knowing they have to. That blue buffalo shit doesn't fuck around... I think it's healthier than about 80% of the stuff I eat.

Can't you just run a lower FD, something like a 3.78 or so? That would fix the gearing issues. Right now I know your first and second gears are pretty much useless. Heh, I remember those days.

On low boost, actually it hooks, RWD ftw.

Maybe not in first, but 2nd will.

Not sure on my medium tune.

118mph at 425 whp doesen't seem right. My evo goes 116mph on about what I believe to be 100 less whp and street style rolling out launch. Whats the eighth mph? Is the car gaining MPH on the back end or does it keel over and fall out of boost on the shift to 5th?

Wait? Your evo traps 116mph with 325whp? How the hell is that possible? We all know an LS1 C5 corvette for example, has about 300whp and can't even trap 110mph on most days. What? You have the Evo from hell?

The s2k with me in it weighs right around 3000. Rolling launch.

I'll have to dig up my slips to tell you the 1/8th mph...

It was a 30r car, so it had TONS of midrange and decent top end...this new turbo is all top end.

I'm with Cliff, unless your evo weighed in @ 1900lbs, there is no way 300whp is netting you near 120mph traps.

Don't easy/rolling launches help with trap speed and hurt the actual time? (sort of like the inverse of how hard awd launches always have great times and shitty traps)

Still, I think maybe it comes down to how you define 'street launch' in an evo?

Yes and no. When you can't lay down the power it will hurt your trap speed. If it hooks when you stab the gas it can help trap speeds. Anyways the highest my evo has dynoed is 301hp/310tq on a mustang dyno and 310hp on a dynojet, that was with a catback exhaust at 20psi boost. I then went with a turboback, added a Amsoil airfilter, and did ECU boost and speed density when I added E85 and injectors. So some minor breathing mods, 22psi tapering to 20psi out the top on the stock turbo. Stock from the intake snorkel to the turbo outlet, its a stock turbo on the stock IC and charge pipes, 400+whp is out of the question. 1.93 sixtey, 87mph in the eighth, 12.4 at 116.4 in the quarter.

My dsm when it weighed 2750 with me in it ran 130 traps with 419whp on this same mustang dyno.

I don't know, I was just saying. Obviously different dynos read differently so we really can't compare numbers. But I would think it would be a 125mph car on the old tune and damm near a 140mph car if not above 140 in the quarter with the new found power.

If I'm thread jacking too much SiAdam let me know and I'll take it elsewhere.

It's all good Dan, I always enjoy talking shop. I respect your knowledge when it comes to Mitsu's and what you have done to yours over the years, I've always kept up on your projects.

I was just ball-parking the 420whp #, it wasn't on full boost, and I don't recall what the whp was on the lower settings..I could be off, but I was just hitting 118 @ the time.

Wasn't spinning, and my 60's were 2.1's, on a rwd car, lol.

I bogged to a couple 2.1 sixties, at those relatively "slow" trap speeds and a dead hook *my* car would still trap about the same. Now mind you I am at the top of 4th in my evo. Honestly, I know drag racing isn't your thing. However if you could get a strong drivetrain under her and get it to leave well it will go deep into the 130's even if the dyno is optimistic. If it reads like our dyno, it will go 145mph at that weight. That is Hyabusa territory. Depending on how it leaves it should run strong 10's all the way down to mid 9's.

I LOVE drag racing, however to get this car to get down the 1320 all day, it's going to cost me some more $$.

Right now I want to cruise and enjoy it before I beat on it. I usually save my dragging towards Sept/Oct so if it breaks I have winter to fix it, lol.

My goal was a 10 sec time slip, I think the tranny/rear end will hold for a few passes..if I don't..then I'll compensate my lack of driving ability with more power.

You should have 10 second power easy. Word to the wise and I'm not fucking with you. The best thing you can do to save the driveline and help the gearing at the same time is to run some real drag slicks. Try to jump up an inch or 2 to help the gearing over the stock tire size. Nothing has improved my reliability nearly as much from going to a 24" street radial to a 26" Mickey Thompson ET Drag. I broke two axles running 12's on street tires and have never broken anything in 3 years of running 26" drag slicks. I'm not talking drag radials, they will break parts more than street tires, run a mickey or similar, ease it out till you get used to it, and it will be a driveline shock absorber and you WILL NOT break parts.

Very very cool.

I'd be happy with that, and of course still retain a/c, vert, full stereo, and the ability to turn around a corner...

DanL, some good tires are on the list, I'd be able to drop down to a 16" wheel...but not sure on tire size to fill those gaps yet.
