i dropped $450 after having my entire bike powdercoated i don't want to spend money where i don't have to.
$450 on a powdercoated bike, or $300 on a structure that will house the bike and car(s). Good call... Hey we all make mistakes at one time or another in life, chalk it up to a life-lesson. For your sake, hope you don't have to learn the hard way. Afterall, we're not your parents, a sibling, or any related family member, so do as you please with your money, don't take our advice for anything, as you said, none of us have ever picked up a tool in our entire lives, so what we would we know about structure, building materials, or other relevant practices.
Btw: Are you going with pressure treated wood and deck screws, or plain 2 x 4's, 4 x 4's, and wood screws?

u can get one for $250 (single car) at Canadian tire. Just get two for $500 and it looks easy to put up. No need to get into all that trouble unless you want to do it for the challenge and the naysayers.

I am honestly surprised at the amount of nay sayers on here. I know most of you have never touched a tool in your life, but this is a sweeping nay on this project.
Its like you're looking for support and taking a shot at everyone at the same time?!
IMO its just unusual to read about a guy who works all the time, talking about 400+ thousand dollar homes, has a good job, drives a BMW M3 and just isn't willing to spend the money that it costs to build/buy something stable. Instead, its like you pulled a number out of the sky, increased it by 50%, and are baffled that people think its funny.
I like your stories/adventures like the Cviic in the back of the van. I think that this is going to work out to be one of your funnier stories. I don't know if I would risk it for the sake of saving maybe 2-300$ to build it "right".

I'd probably atleast go with 2x6's for the lowest beam on the roof. That would help resist twisting a bit more.
