how is it a formula 1 watch if it doesn't even have a tach?

It easily saved us at least an hour and a half of border wait times between heading down and coming back, by rerouting to a different bridge. Can't believe we never knew about it before...
Good kill on the watch, my dad has the same (or similar) one.

For the border waits they're also listed on the CBSA website which is updated regularly, and on the weekends they usually announce them on 680 News (LOL AM radio!).

i was down in Niagara Falls/Buffalo on Saturday for shopping. Heading there and coming back was 1 to 1.5 hrs each way

we declared each spent $100 each (3 of us in the car), the customs guy let us go without any problem.

The previous time I declared $350 between 2 people and I was taxed $20 cdn. I was more than happy to pay and they didn't search my car \:\)

Thanks for the kudos on the watch. Always loved the F1's.

Up here, I've seen this model retail for anywhere from $900-1000 (excluding tax). Never seen them go on sale either. I paid about $470 all in across the border. Had it sized for me and wore it back. I didn't take the box (for obvious reasons), but got the manual and warranty card.

Even though it's not the biggest watch I own, it definitely has some weight to it (which I like).

I spent three hours in a cell after trying to bring a turbo downpipe into Canada.

They wanted to seize my friend's car and were real powertripping bastards about it. I didn't have a receipt for it (it was homemade) and so they were saying it must be worth $1000 or $1500.

Under NAFTA, car parts that have a point of origin in Canada or the US are not subject to duty. I knew they'd charge duty, so I didn't declare it.

I had to pay duty, a fine, and I was blacklisted for the border.

I still shouldn't have had to pay duty, let alone spend all that time in lock-up.

So have you been back across since being blacklisted?

Shitty situation, but I think it might have actually been better if you had it shipped instead.

I'm thinking about buying rims down there....how bad is it if i come back with brand spanking new wheels and tires and a set of winters in the back and claimed that i picked up a used set of snows.

maybe drive around a bit and get the rims dirty.. and clean up the winter tires so it looks like you bought those. but I think its still quite obvious.

you could produce a fake e mail that shows you buying the rims second hand, to save on some money.

My wife and I go across the border to go grocery shopping at least once a month and the only times we have ever had to pay anything was for a case of beer and her wedding dress. The 30 pack of Miller was only $15 anyway, so paying an additional $15 was still cheaper then the $50 or so a case would have been here. The wedding dress ticked me off though. It was a younger girl in the booth so we figured she would let us go. Nope. $70 tax.

Tops is awesome for shopping. They have stuff in the US that they dont even sell here. Its a bit of a drive for you GTA guys, but from hamilton its not too bad.

Good dui on the watch for sure. I would have mailed the box back over with the receipt.

if you can generate some sort of fake receipt for your winter tires/wheels then you could end up paying a lot less than declaring the new wheels+tires. however these customs officer asked a billion questions to test if you are lying to them or not. So prepare to have a very detail story that flow to avoid the trouble.

have you check the price in US vs price in Canada? If there is a huge difference, it might still be better off to buy it from the States and declare it and pay duties/taxes

anytime ive brought car parts over i never said anything and was fine.
(and that used to be more frequent when our dollar was shit)

last time i went over with the g/f from being down south for a week...i declared nothing...cause i literally bought nothing. well they didnt like that. they made us pull over and they searched the car. found...nothing. cause we brought back nothing.

only been back over in a big group since. no issues.

ps: its best to use kijiji or craigslist of the place you used to buy. harder to track /easier to say the ad was deleted.

That doesn't work, at least for me. When i did that, they wanted the address/phone number/print out of the ad/etc of the person. I mean even if it's on the net how would I know where/how to meet them? Anyway, i threw down my buddy's res who used to go to Buffalo, but I shit a brick there for a second bringing in rims and shiat.

Oh, I kept the receipt. Stuffed it and the manual into the owner's manual for my car. I figure if they search the vehicle they may not look in there specifically.

if one ever plans to mail the box back...make sure you DON'T include the receipt with the box!

people have been caught like this and were forced to pay duties/taxes on an empty box.....LMAO

Customs have seen it all, so if you guys think you can out smart them go ahead. Stuffing your receipt into the owners manual was a risky move. Since your watch was only $450? You would have paid less then $100 in taxes...not really worth it to me to go through that.

Shit the last watch I bought was shipped over fedex from the states and I declared the replacement value for insurance purposes and knew I was going to bend over. Paid around $400 in duties/taxes. Now if a I was able to go and pick it up over the border....fuck ya I would have "snuck" it back. I would have shipped the box and receipt separately.

yoooo, that's maaa nikka. That's a good idea and it could work...you say that you went in with a set of rims and that way you only pay taxes on the tires.

The problem I foresee here is that when you are going into the states they can make a 'note' of that, or they technically should, and when you are coming back they would cross references. I don't know if they have that ability, but it's worth a shot imo.

I am going to a Cruise in May. Going to pick up some new man jewelry in St. Maartin. I'll be gone for 7+ days so I should be able to declare it unless I go balls out and get a Tag Carrera or Monaco.

Whatever you do, don't even think about doing a fake receipt. Thats uttering a forged document, its a ciminal offence, way worse than being blacklisted at the border
