meh, my SIL has the new RX350. I think its one ugly turd and wayyyy overpriced. But I guess being asian, one must own at least either a Lexus/BMW/MB  Just saying!
Haha he definatley won't own an escape like this white boi.
Really though I would rather have the BMW too lol. I just wouldn't want to pay for it.

To help your feable little brain understand a little better. HE WAS SHOPPING FOR SPORT CUTES ANYWAYS!!!!!!! did you get that so far. Then he picked the most driver oriented one. Get it? or did we lose you? So he was going to to choose a sport cute anyways, and he and his wife like sporty driving and would pick the one that is most sporty. Did you get lost in the discussion again? If not, then understand that he would pick the sportiest of the bunch.
Further more I am pretty sure an X3 would give it to a SiR.....

actually i was trying to convince the Mrs. to change for a wagon, but in the end - she feels more confident driving something higher off the ground w/ her height being 5' even - i can see how it can be a PITA to see over or through the car in front of you. (in the subie, i tried to sit at her height level and she basically just sees the trunk of the sedan in front, which can get annoying fast)

Sport cute is for wifey's ride height requirement. Good driving experience is for the both of us.
X3 has both.
GLK - I think they are ugly as hell, can't see myself in one.
RX - Very (fail)boat-esque; and BORING
Jeff - as crazy as it sounds, we were actually looking at the Escape as a potential option too -- that was when we were going into the direction of "what replacement can we get w/ the least $ out of pocket (on top of the insurance cheque) " ... it had good cargo space (i think the upgraded center console was biggest of all the vehicles we checked out at the autoshow).
in the end, we just don't see ourselves in it; probably to a point where we started nitpicking to a point where we stopped looking further:
- pricing it out to the way we want, it came close to costing that of a rav4;
- high depreciation of domestics (only took 4 yrs. for one to depreciate what our rav4 drop to in 6-7 years)
- hard to access child seat anchor [i swap car seats a lot]
- spare tire located on the outside in the under carriage (x3 has the same problem, but alas, we were nitpicking)
