M series vehicles make me very very very happy. I LOVE my car, the driving experience never fails, be it a 1 km drive or a 60km run at 3 am in the morning to Oshawa to see my gf like I did last night after a night of clubbing. I hope that all "true" car enthusiasts get to experience it once in their life, it's such a worthwhile experience and forgoing one would leave you deprived of one of the best driving experiences out there. /no homo My only complaint is that drivng 240km/h or 110km/h feels the same   besides noise its like that in most competent cars these days . yes even my turd felt the same at 120 or 220. Grow up man, for fuck's sake. Every time it's the same shit with you. And no your SiR doesn't feel ANYTHING like an e36 m3 at high speeds. Not even remotely close, true story bro, google it. Never mind you already did that right?
i said it feels confident and the same at 220 compared to 120. the only difference is noise(from rpm/wind noise). thats it. its solid as a rock. i dont fucking care if you disagree. i owned the fucking thing for 10 yrs . i know what its like.

This one's easy - based on how you speak - over the internet anyway, I'd suggest keeping the civic and getting a Morgan. 20+ years old, check British, check Handling, check 15-20k price range, check, but you wont get a plus-8 for that coin. One of my co-workers has a morgan, we took it to dunnville last season. It wasnt the fastest on the track by far, but wow it was a BLAST to drive and kick around the corners. That's the car for you! the difference between my g/fs hatch and my car was night and day. it was 100% a diff car. Uhh negative captain. What's the difference between your '00 Sir and my '00 Si? I had better suspension than you, same wheels and probably better tires, the car was IDENTICAl except an extra 80lbs up front for a b16 over the d16. WHAT else is different? I had SIR LCA and sway bars, etc. tell me how else it was different....you idiot comparing a hatchback to coupe?!?!?! Fucking gek.

So I'm considering one of these now:

I'm thinking an '86 through '89 model. Not as nice to drive as a 635, but they're ten times easier to find, are at the bottom of their depreciation curve, spares are readily available, and since I've never owned a V8 car, it might be time for one.
Plus it's well within my budget (plenty of good examples between $14,000 and $20,000 on the market at the moment).
Thoughts?

That's alright, but I don't think that car suits you I've always been a huge fan of these. Love them hard The shape is timeless and classic, like the e36 m3
I'm just not as sanguine on those. I know that on paper they're superior to the R107s, but I'm not as fond of the indistinct styling, and they seem to come from a time when Mercedes was starting to lose the plot when it came to quality.
The R107 was produced from the early '70s to the end of the '80s. That alone tends to qualify it a little more for the "timeless" moniker since it was simply around for so long (and helps explain why they're so easy to find.)
Plus good ones of the '00 and later series are slightly out of my price ceiling. To get something that fits the budget it would have to be a very early model or a slightly knackered one.

I know I'm in the extreme minority on this but if I had the the money and time for upkeep, I would love to own an XJ-S.
I'd love one of those, but good ones are hard to find and any pre-late'90s Jag is going to be a reliability crapshoot.
