I currently have an HTC Touch (Windows Mobile) and I'm due for an upgrade. My work pays for my phone and so they'll pay for the cost of the upgrade, to an extent. I think the only rules are that I can't get an iPhone.

Right now I'm looking at either the HTC Dream or Magic which both run Android. I used the Dream for a little bit and liked it. What I really liked was the slide out keybord. And seeing as this is a work phone a QWERTY keyboard comes in handy. From what I've read the Magic is slimmer, has more RAM and more internal memory, but it doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard.

Has anyone had experience with either or both phones? Anyone have any other recommendations from Rogers' current lineup? I've never had a Blackberry, should I go down that route? Maybe with Bold or something? Or I hear the Storm 3 is due, should I wait for that?

Just looking for some feedback as to what people like and dislike.

i think it's just me, but my bold 9000 is slow as all hell.

it's a great phone, with awesome mail & messaging capability, but it's definitely not an app-filled mobile web browsing machine.

i'm also sick of doing a battery pull once a day.

What do you mean by a battery pull? Having to swap the battery because it drains quickly?

Have you updated your firmware?

BB9000 is shit...overrated POS!!! The 9700 is what the 9000 should have been. The phone is wayyyyy faster than the 9000. Web browsing is shit on all BB's and I've gotten use to pulling out my battery as well. BB's have shitty firmware, but are great for e-mail...LOL

Thank god I'm not paying for this shit.

a battery pull is basically a hard reset....when the machine hangs or acts up, a battery pull usually fixes the problem.

I'd check out the android phones - they seem much more capable.

Yeah you were probably looking at the HTC Hero which is running Android 2.1. Unfortunately its exclusive to Telus. Rogers' Magic and Dream run Android 1.5

If you like the slide-out keyboard + android, you'll have to go with Telus.

I read (I think it was on howardforums that Rogers will be upgrading the magic to 2.1 this summer. Unfortunately, the dream won't be able to (onboard memory issue or something like that).

I can't say anything about the bb, don't have one. I've got the magic. Works well. Touchscreen keyboard doesn't like my fat fingers. I had an easier time typing on the iPhone.
