When my engine on a 00 civic si is cold it will start but idle like an out of tune carburated engine. I have to give it gas while idling to smooth out the rpms. Does anyone know a fix or the problem.
Are you pretty mechanically inclined? If so, try and clean out your EGR valve. I was reading on mods to increase fuel mileage and heard how one person's EGR valve was stuck open. The car ran rough until properly warmed up. I haven't touched mine but imagine you would need some carb cleaner and a small brush to clean out the carbon.

There is no EGR valve in a 99-00 US honda civic SI.
It is possible that it's so cold that the plunger for the IACV is sticking. You can possibly try a cleaner through that to see if it helps out.
Newer cars got rid of the fast idle thermovalve and put that function for the ecu to control. So a lazy or sticking IACV can cause the symptoms you are explaining. -Chuong
Thanks for all the input. I guess thats why they make clubs like this. So I finally got fed up with tinkering with my car and took it to a shop. They rreplaced my ect sensors and it fixed my problems. Next stop is emissions so well see if it completely fixed my problems. Again thanks for all the input from everyone.
