For Buyers

1). Ensure you get as much of the sellers information as possible. At a minimum it is recommended to get the sellers full name, address, & email address. It is also a good idea to get a telephone number as well, and then verify the information before exchanging money. Getting their full name will help you get more information on them using a site such as Zaba.

2). Use a service that has buyer protection. Services such as PayPal offer buyer protection for an additional fee in case the seller does not deliver on their end of the bargain. The extra money is well spent when things do not turn out as planned. Sending cash when not meeting in person is not a good idea and lacks the protection as mentioned above.

3).Get them to email you (not PM). This will give you an IP Address that you can trace using GeoBytes. You can then confirm if they are in fact in the same location as they claim.

4). Get other credentials such as auction site ID’s to look at feedback or other forums they are a part of for feedback there.

5). Try to find out where they work, this will give you one other form of contact and sometimes their employer or boss might like to know about their shady activities if the deal goes sour.

6). Also gut instinct. If something does not feel right at anytime back out. Same goes for the old saying, “if something is too good to be true…”

7). When the transaction is finished post up feedback on the seller in the Buyer & Seller Feedback forum.

For Sellers

1). Include as much of your information as possible. Keep it safe for yourself as well. There is no need to plaster your phone number all over the forum, however stating that you will give it to a buyer at their request may help settle their nerves about dealing with you. Also try to get their number if they ask for yours and give them a call to show them you are legitimate.

2). Include photos of your products. This will help you to sell your items. People want to see what they are buying, if you post something for sale with no photos more than likely the first reply will be along the lines of “Pics.”

3). Be as specific and descriptive as possible. Try to make it clear the condition of the items you are selling as to avoid any problems after the buyer gets the product.

4). Post a price, this will help out you as the seller as well as the buyer. If all your post up is best offer do not complain when you get a bunch of low ball offers.
