I'm headed up to the Twin Cities this week for a wedding. Part of the planned festivities is spending a couple hours at ProKart Indoor racing link. Looking at the website they aren't shifter carts although they are "European" (WTF?). What's the skinny on this place? Is it worth the $20 or so for a session?

I went there once a few years ago. They are definately much faster than your run of the mill go carts you drive at a typical outdoor amusement park. The fact that you are inside and the track has lots of turns makes it seem like you are going even faster. I would do it again for sure. If you've driven an actual shifter cart before, then I'm guessing it would be a let down though.
I think you also get a print out at the end with your average lap speeds, etc, so it's cool to see how you improve once you get used to the track. I remember my forearms were actually pretty fried afterwards from gripping the wheel so tightly...it's quite a workout...lots of adrenaline.

It is pretty fun, depending on how the track is configured.
The carts definitely are faster when you drive them smoothly, so you can learn a lot from them.
I would recommend at least trying it.

There was five of us and we had the track to ourselves. It was pretty sweet, definitely took several laps around the track to get a feel for it. There were print outs after each round detailing each person's lap times, rank, average speed, etc. Highly recommended.
Highlight of the outing was watching the non drinker puke all over himself after the second round. The rest of us hungover dudes were fine.
