Thanks Mike! Looks like you're gonna be busy the next few months. \:D

If I could run this weekend I'd likely get up to 70 miles, as I'm trying to get just a little extra training in before my first 50 miler in 2 weeks. It may be a blessing in disguise though as I probably need the rest.

Managed a 4th overall at today's 5k. Not too competitive at the front, but I'll take it. Course was a bit short , my GPS measured 2.9 miles, and 17:54...so 6:10 pace. A bit off my 5k PR, but not bad for no real speedwork in a long while.

Jebus that's fast. Nice work, Chris!

I've got my work cut out for me between now and December

I only ran twice the past week since my half-marathon. I have no races scheduled right now and so am totally undecided on what to do. I did an hour long run yesterday in the evening, after deciding I was being way too lazy, lol. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/466715776

It was pretty neat though because I ran over a bridge roughly at sunset so it looked really nice. Kept up a good pace and now got sore legs today, go me!

What kind of shorts are you guys using/happy with?
I started out with a few generic pairs of gym/exercise shorts Amazon had a year ago, and while they're not basketball shorts length or anything they're kinda long/baggy compared to most normal running shorts I've seen. At that time I was just starting so I was more worried about modesty/beginnerism. Now I have no concern with people seeing my pasty white legs, only comfort:
I blindly tried a pair of Pearl Izumi shorts that were on sale, and they were total crap (the liner has horrible seams in the worst placement).
What're some of the pairs you guys would recommend?

http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/mens-strider-pro-shorts-5-inch?p=24631-0

Patagonia Strider Pro shorts - they're the bees knees! Or, for $15 less, the 'regular' Strider shorts are perfectly fine. More pockets for gel storage in the Pro shorts but maybe that's not important to you. These and Salomon tights are all I run now after trying a host of other shorts.

http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/mens-strider-shorts-5-inch?p=24642-0 <-- 'Regular' Strider

Whatever you decide, make sure you go for the 5" inseam. Like in business where you "dress for the job you want" I find it best in running to "dress for the times I want"

I have two pairs of the Patagonias shown above and I can't imagine running in anything else.

These two jabronis speak the truth.
My last race I carried 8 gels and my VW flip key in them and you couldnt even tell, no sagging or moving around or anything.
See sexy picture that I posted previously.*

Only problem for me is that when standing around, my little penis tends to push forward a bit in an obvious fashion.

Well, maybe it's not really a problem.

Not an issue with the old Strider shorts but these new ones are downright PG-13+

I dislike my non-pro striders. They're not bad, but they sort of bunch.

I'll probably get some pro's next month as the weather continues to warm up. (though I'm not above short in the cold).

I wear Saucony Running Shorts. I believe that is the right pair. They're longer and have a longer liner in them, like boxer briefs. I like them so when I run my thighs don't rub together to get agitated, or needing bodyglide or something. Also, there is only a single backpocket, but it is big enough for me to fit my Note 3 in it. Plus it is off to the side, I dislike pockets that are directly in the center on the back of shorts.

I'd recommend them to anyone that is looking into longer shorts.

SO I finally got myself a GPS watch. Chris sent me a link to a cheapy and I couldn't pass it up.

I have to say, this shit is pretty slick. I used to use stopwatch on normal watch and marked trail distances(and some google help). This whole GPS thing is is a marked improvement. Now I know exactly how slow I am! \:\)

The three of us are going to have the best starting line photo of all time

The first time I wore my (size small eek) pro shorts was at the gym and I'd say 80% of the people I passed looked down at my crotch

Small? I'm not a big guy and the mediums are a bit tight on me.
I can only imagine.

The mediums felt fine but my summer racing weight is about 5-8 pounds lighter than current so I, rather ambitiously, went for the smalls. I feel outright ridiculous in them

And won't be too much longer before you don't have to imagine anymore

Are the three of us gonna have to write our names on the waistband of our shorts like in 5th grade camp when we get to Leadville? Mediums here though.

I hit the track last night for some reason, I told my wife and she asked if I even knew where the track was.
If you ever want a crazy workout do a ladder.
I did 400-800-1200-1600-1200-800-400, all of my 400m splits were 1:19-1:29, the last 400 being the fastest. Boom.

Lol the things runners talk about. Some great times too!

Ran my third and final OC Chili Race last Saturday. Did 10 miles @ 91:15. And tonight I resumed the treadmill training... 13.1 @ 1:57:07. Hope to kick up the mileage to 16-18 next week. OC Marathon is creeping up fast...

I did a nice 7 miler in an hour again last night. Should be doing a long run tomorrow but my left heel today is hurting. Nothing special happened during my run, though I know it was starting to get sore during the run. It feels like it is the bone or something, because it is sore inside my heel, not on the outside/skin layer. It was rough just walking into work from the parking garage to my desk, ugh.

I'm definitely going to donate. More ultras is good. Even if it is in Colorado where they have so damn many as it is, lol.

Fun fact - Florida has more 100 mile races than Colorado!

In other URP related news, Buff's new Anton Krupicka Signature Series (including a shirt?!) is, um, something. I can't wait to see someone decked out in this gear at a race

Yeah...well...screw you! Haha, it is 6 compared to 5. I haven't even heard of 3 of them, and 1 I just found out about the other day. Also, the 100milers here are all flat and and such, Colorado is brutal. The Keys 100 does sound cool though, it is all on roads through the Florida Keys. I might actually go after that one in the future.

If you scroll down and read the last comment apparently Florida has 11 or 12 100+ mile races and is second only to California in this regard!

God only knows why anyone would want to run 100 miles in Florida but there you have it. You're an ultrarunning mecca and you don't even know it!

Whoa crazy crazy! I only looked at the map. I'm sure there are plenty low key/unknown ones out there for every state too. Anyway, that's awesome. Hopefully next year I will jump into a 100 miler.

I did decide to sign up for a 50 miler because I needed something on my calendar to train for, lol.

So here's the bet: winning time is historically around 6:00 even. Using the highly scientific ultrasignup percentages your expected finish times are:

Ironmon: 8:28
Ampsman: 7:07

Whoever has the best finish as a percentage of their expected finish time wins something.

Aaaand, go!
