Ride up to Cincy then!

Seriously though, Ill keep that in mind. L'ville is only 1.5 hours from me and I might be down to make a quick weekend of it and catch a Louisville Bats baseball game as well. \:\)

I had a horrible run yesterday, was supposed to do one more 20 miler before my trail marathon in 2 weeks.
Ended up doing 17 and called it quits because my legs were toast and I didnt want to fuck anything up.
I had done 27 in the 3 days prior including some hills, but I felt pretty good.
Fuck.

I hate those days. You'd think by now I'd be used to them and know its a good sign that I've been getting some great mileage in, but it's still a lame feeling. \:\(

I did 8 on Sunday an hour after having a hamburger, hotdog and all the BBQ fixins and felt like I was floating the whole way. I had taken two day off prior to that and didnt bike either. Rest can be a beautiful thing.

I would have shit myself if I ran after eating all that.
But ya...you're right, I keep telling myself, get a good taper in and I'll be good.
It was kind of cool to go out and run 17 miles and feel like shit the whole time and still average sub 8 min pace.

Ran tonight for 11:30 without stopping. Then walked for 3:00 and ran back home. Total of 17:14 for 2.07 miles. Getting there!

I normally train on an empty stomach, but I really wanted to get one more run in for the week. Amazingly everything stayed put with nary a belch.

12.5 miles? Whoa. lol

In other news, Im getting a pretty consistent pain on the inside of my left leg. Hurts to put weight on it the day after I run. During runs it hurts initially, but goes away after about 3-5 minutes. It's not a shin splint I don't think as I'm VERY accustomed to those. Any one had any idea what could be going on?

Is it tender to the touch? I get that sort of pain on the inside part of my shin sometimes.
Probably not the answer you're looking for but I just ignore it and its never gotten any worse.
Alot of people will say listen to your body and shit but your body can be a little bitch sometimes.

I don't have any diagnosis, but when I'd get something nagging, I'd give it a day or two to rest, then repeat the workout and a lot of the time, it tended to get better.

Listen to your body, adjust/rest as required.

As for me, I've been trying for over a year to get my trail bike ride under an hour. 61 minutes over and over. I push, I push and 61 minutes. The last 3-4 times, it was windy and I was pushing it only to be closer to 62. Today, the wind wasn't too bad. I never thought I'd get under an hour, but I even broke 59. Never stood on it so much. So nice not fighting the wind like mad. I'm spent.

Well this isnt the email I wanted to receive.

 Quote:
I cannot thoroughly enough explain my sorrow and regret at having to cancel the upcoming Skyline to the Sea races. The following was just posted to PCTR’s Facebook page:
I am beyond sorry to announce that I am forced to close the doors at PCTR, effective immediately. As many of you know, I have dealt with some very difficult obstacles these past few years which have taken their toll, in many ways, on me and on PCTR. Although they were exacerbated at the end of last year, I truly believed that PCTR could be turned around through the influx of money, the hard work of a few of us, and the support of my friends, but it just wasn’t to be. As a business, PCTR can no longer function.

I know that many runners/entrants will be upset with this decision, but please try to keep in mind that, for each of you, this is a race in your life, but for me, for over 12 years, this has been my life. Moving forward, I am hopeful that other RDs who are friends of mine will take over the upcoming events, and that those of you who have already planned to run will still be able to do so. Thank you for your understanding.
I do know that for some of you, this was a goal race, and for others, a destination race. For others, a first ultra or a first marathon. I hope you know that if anything could have been done by me or anyone else to prevent this, it would have been done.

I have been a part of the trail/ultra community for over 20 years, and PCTR has been hosting events for 12. Thank you for your support all that time, for allowing us to advise you, teach you and learn from you, share your accomplishments, help you reach your goals, and share hugs with you as crossed the PCTR finish lines all those years.

I wish each of you continued successes out on the trails.

Did a 5k this morning in 23:10. Happy with that and looking forward to running a few more later in the year to drop that number a little.

So I did a 12km trail race. Let say my time was about what I would expect for 12 miles on-road. Slow. It was a pretty tough race for sure. Thick mud, lots of climbing, then a bush-walk at the summit, and then back down the muddy track. About 20% of the finishers had blood on them, all of us were mud from the knees down.

Over-all I happy to have done it. I'd forgotten about this 4-race trail series until 2 weeks ago when I did the night run. It's been great having building my running network through my friend. One of the guys I rode with won the 16km run today, and took second on last weeks' 10km last(49minutes for a trail-run on a mtn bike trail in the dark, tells you how hard it was if that's a winning time).

Did my mile relay race this afternoon.

1.1 mile time was 5:30. Pretty good, IMO. Not the fastest. The fastest was 5:18 something.

So I knocked out a 1:33:27 half.
I was expecting a little faster but still not bad, I never tapered so I dont know if that affected me, I felt really strong during the race though.

Used to run XC and track and NEVER had a problem with nipple chafing until today's run. It seriously feels like someone took razor blades to them. WTF?

For me: lose shirt/singlet plus water plus anything over 10 miles=nipple chaffing.

I've been wearing Asics for many years now, and am looking to try some minimalist running shoes. Anyone try the Asics Blur 33s? Also looking at the New Balance Minimus. If anyone has any personal experience with these (not the vibram toe shoes), please chime in. Thanks
