Here's the situation: I'm about as frustrated as frustrated gets with the whole car audio industry - a bunch of unethical, careless punks who set up shops (big chains like Tweeter, Al & Ed's and Circuit City emphatically included,) that seemingly exist for the sole purpose of separating you from your money.
I've blown at least $1200 on car audio and it still sounds like crap; I'm absolutely finished with door and side panel-mounted speakers and want to go back to the tried-and-true: Laying enclosed-cabinet home stereo speakers in the back. In order to keep them invisible to prying eyes, I plan on laying them in the hatch facing straight up.
My Question: Does anyone know of a fab shop that can make an acoustically-transparent wire mesh replacement for the 2002 Si's rear deck? Or a company that sells something like that ready-made?
I'm thinking either a close-link wire mesh or just standard metal grille material. I also thought of having someone just punch a network of big holes in the existing deck piece, then covering the whole thing up with matching cloth - but don't know who you'd go to for something like that.
The whole idea is unlikely, I know, but if you don't ask....
