My sentiments exactly... except i opted for a well equipped mazda 3. Leather, climate control and useable storage space... Also no rattles; the si's interior rattled worse than any car I've ever owned.

Not impressed after 2 years of driving this car. Tired of shifting and getting to 6,500 RPM's to feel a small "rush" of power. Sorry kiddies. The SI is boring. Getting the EX Accord 4 cyl. That's right 4 banger. 190 HP with more useable torque. Lots of room. Comfortable. Ya baby. Bye.
Where you are Right:
I've driven both and the Accord does feel much more solid going down the road and boasts much more cargo room, if you are so inclined to carry that many people and that much crap...me I'm a minimalist and never have anything more than my IPOD in the car and my Ray Bans. Also the power band STOCK does kinda suck!
Where you are Wrong:
You are most likely just getting the new car itch with the Accord, it is new, crisp, and feels more solid so your impulses are getting the best of you. THIS IS EXACTLY what happened to me when I bought the G35 a couple of years ago. I had an 00 SI, nothing wrong with it but the solid structure and supple ride roped me in. Any way, the Accord is much slower auto or manual, worse on gas, and as common as any every day Chevy Malibu (you will lose it in parking lots).
Also, why not spend $500 on the hondata reflash and an exhaust (a quiet one if you wish) and intake. For much less than the hit you'd take on this new Accord, your power will begin to do more than "slight rush" and it will occur MUCH LOWER in the power band than it did stock. Just my .02. Hindsight is 20/20 but I could never drive a stock SI after having the Hondata reflash and basic bolt ons. (I/RH/E).

My dad has a 08 accord sedan ex-l 4 banger and it is ok at highway speeds, but it's heavier than the si so it makes up for that little bit of more torque his car has. I have hondata and i/h and I can probably outrun him with 2 other people in the car.
But I must admit it's an awesome car. Beautiful leather interior, heated seats, more comfortable in back seat, looks VIP.lol.

Isn't the new V6 accord a 14 second car?
Bingo. Apparently they trap a hair over 100 too.

270 HP, beautiful looks in coupe or sedan, and a V6 starting at $25k.
Of course 3,450 to 3,600 pounds is a little fat for crisp handling. Manual tranny not available in V-6 sedan. The six-speed transmission in the coupe is probably the same one that all Si, RSX-S and S2000 owners have come to love so much. Same dumbass drive by wire as the Si, probably with even more nanny functionality.
But the OP was talking about the I-4, not the V-6. I don't see the I-4 Accord being comparable to the Si. I would have to guess that the Accord I-4 is going to be more practical and less fun to drive.

The Accord V6 and the Camry V6 both have quite a bit of power. The Camry V6 used to be the 3rd fastest car under 25k, until the MS3 was released. Now it's #4 I believe.

And the 2009 Mazda 6 will have 272 horsepower from a 3.7l V6 for $25,150, so you can bump that Camry down again (if you spot Mazda the $150).

The numbers from Car and Driver -
____________________2009 Sonata SE V6__________2006+ Civic SI skidpad__________________0.78 g____________________0.91g 0-60 accelleration_________6.9 sec___________________6.7 sec
Where do you see it being faster?
and much more comfortable.
My Si is more comfortable than my friend's Viper.

I buy the car because of the fun-to-drive factor, not because of how many cars it can beat in 0-60 drag race. To most of us here, Sonata is probaly as interesting a tin can.
I don't know about you ... but I don't really need to "step hard" on the gas pedal in every gear to get to 60. I just have to shift at the right rpm (factory recommanded shift points), and it gets good acceleration and milages. For normal stop and go traffic, I really don't need more than 30% throttle to keep up with traffic.

I dont buy the 6.7 seconds to 60 for one. I think other pubs had it around 7.5, which sounds more reasonable. I can tell you from PERSONAL experience, the Sonata feels much faster. I don't have to floor it in every gear to get to 60 either.
Car and Driver (2006 Coupe)= 6.7 Edmunds Sedan Review (2007 Sedan) = 7.1 Edmunds Si v GTI article (2006 Coupe) = 6.8 Edmunds Sport Compact Comparison (2006 Coupe) = 7.5 Edmunds First Review (2006 Coupe) = 7.2 Motor Trend Si v SE-R article (2007 Sedan) = 6.3 Motor Trend Long Term Test (2006 Coupe) =6.7 Motor Trend Si v GTI article (2006 Coupe) = 6.3 Road and Track Pocket Rocket Comparison (2007 Sedan) = 6.8 Road and Track Si v Cooper S v GTI (2006 Coupe) = 6.6 Road and Track Si Review (2006 Coupe) = 6.7 Automobile Mag (2007 Sedan) = 7.4 Automobile Mag (2006 Coupe) = 6.7
2007 Sedan Test Average = 6.90 2006 Coupe Test Average = 6.81
In the end, I don't know why you are comparing the two. One is a mid-size family sedan and the other is a sport compact. It's not like they have anything in common.
I still have problems buying a Hyundai because of reliability and because of their involvement with Kim Jong Il and North Korea.

I just traded my wife's Sienna for a '08 4dr EX-L V6 with nav. For a family sedan the car is awesome! I never liked driving the van and would equate it to rolling my living room sofa down the street. The Accord offers an excellent compromise between handling and ride quality. It is pretty quick, but at full throttle it still shifts way before redline. That being said, it in no way approaches the fun factor and the overall performance of my Si. Granted, I do not have a long commute and I am rarely stuck in traffic. Perhaps if that was the case I would favor the Accord. But the Si offers a fantastic blend of handling, performance, style, and quality that is way above the other cars in it's class. My 2 cents.

bro. i'm not a very good driver (just started driving stick) in that car, and i can still get up to 65 out of third easy. so go fuck yourself. why the hell are you posting on a civic forum about how much better a commie fucking hyundai is than a well-manufactured honda... maybe once you hit your mid life crisis you'll finally see how much of a pussy decision this is.

WOw, comparing 4 cyl. Accord to Si. two totally different car, one is pratical, one is sport compact. maybe if you said the V6 Accord, i will believe that u would want something more in power and torque. but fun to drive factor i think Si win hand down compare to 4 banger Accord.
