What is the best way to get rid of water spots and shit on glass? I recently bought a used 540 and I don't think the previous owner ever dried the car after he washed it... ever. Water spots on paint were gone with a few coats of wax, etc.

I think I've tried every glass cleaner available at auto parts stores. \:\(

Well I already posted a reply here but the forums got rolled back for whatever reason.

Anyway, post some pics of the stains you got so I can get a better idea of what you got going on. Other then that if Windex and Armorall wipes don't do it then try Simple Green

Its not really stains as much as it is just really hard to get out water spots. I've tried Windex numerous times with paper towels, leather cloth, newspaper, towel, anything I can get my hands on. \:\(

I can try to take a picture of the glass, but I don't think it will show up.

Vinegar and water should take care of them as well. Just becareful not to spray on the paint, since the vinegar will strip the wax off the paint.

yeah same thing with simple green, you can clean the body of the car with it but don't let it sit to long or it will eat the clear coat off a little lol, it cleans wonders though so long as you wash over it after you apply

The other thing is to use a glass polish with a machine, or do what I do, and just use a machine-applied polish (for paint) on the glass.

Yea, a Rotary or Dual-Action and glass polish will get your windows cleaner than ever before. Also, I hate to inform you, but you just hid the water spots on your paint with wax. Wax (assuming you know what I mean by this) has NO cleaning properties and won't remove imperfections in the paint. Sometimes they can fill in light scratches and swirls, but theyll just be back eventually. What youll need exterior wise is a professional swirl removal and to work the paint all the way down, and then work its way back up.

Yup, I use a buffer and a medium aggressive pad with a polish on my windows and it works great. I would not recommend simple green or any of those pads. Also, fuck windex. Pick up some stoners invisible glass, in the aerosol can with a yellow top. That stuff works wonders, especially when paired with a fresh newspaper.

Like Matt said, wax is what you put on your paint after it's already clean and swirl-free. You want to use clay, polish, glazes, etc. on the paint before wax. Wax just seals up the paint, and can add some depth to the shine. Putting wax on paint that has water spots, swirls, and feels gritty is a bad idea.

Thanks for the tips!

I've checked all the automotive stores around here for that stuff and I can't find any. Looks like I'll be ordering it online.

I switched to it from Eagle 20/20. Both are good, but Stoner's is unreal.
