There is a local 2000 4 door viggen with 118K for what seems like a deal. My buddy is big into older Saabs and nearly killed me for calling him first instead of going to buy it right away. I'm going to look at it after work and was wondering if there is anything to look for problem wise.

problem-wise?
first thing I'd do, is pull the valve-cover and check for sludging.
then, call saab and see if it's still under the extended warranty for sludging issues.

other than that, enjoy. I can't think of pressing issues other than regular maintenance.

Fixed.

beh... I never notice my torque steer anymore...
I love letting go of the steering wheel and "mashing" 2nd gear lol mailbox autox

when I drive the Eclipse, I prepare for torqu-steer, and it's not there.
it's like when you miss a shift, and you lean forward in anticipation...
you look like a retard, but had you made that shift... you were straight-up fonzarelli

My friend got a viggen with similar miles and the motor mounts were all shot.
IF this one needs them replace them all, with poly if you can stand some more vibration.
Viggen resceu kit is helpful, but if you're such a girlie man that torque steer frightens you, well, let's leave it at that :D.

My aero had WAY more torque than a Viggen and I hardly noticed it, once you're used to what happens when you hit the fun pedal it's like second nature.

I drove it yesterday, but the dealer is on a small street so I didn't get a chance to drive it very hard. It has some torque steer and it was a bit nervous on bumpy roads but nothing I couldn't manage. The interior was in decent shape, but the leather was a bit worn and the cassette HU's display was messed up (hard to read).

Front bumper had been cracked on the ground a few times and both fogs were broken \:\( The worst part was it had a bit of a wobble in the steering, tie rods were maybe worn out. It wasn't super bad but I told him I wouldn't pay what he was asking ($8K). I offered him $6500 and he declined. I just saw a 2003 9-3 sedan with 40K for like $10,000 but it's in Ohio. Meh....I'll keep looking.

I loved the way my saab drove. Its not like torque steer is going to bite you in the ass and spin you if you drop hammer in a turn. The viggen is a lot quicker than the numbers would suggest.

The suspension does really suck, though, and my non viggen had electronic problems up the wazoo.

I meant to add that they recently put a TSB out for t7 twice/dice reflashing.

if you get a 2000+ saab, look into that

You don't want an 03+ 9-3. They are fucking HEADACHES.

If you do get one though ONLY get a vector or arc. Linears are slow ftl.

The vector or arc give you a 6speed and 210hp \:\)

The vector gets a lip kit, spoiler, and two tone leather interior.

This one was a linear. It's 175 HP/ 5 speed. I'm not going to get it. I don't know about upgrades for those things either so a lot more research is in order before purchase. I probably won't be buying anything until next spring anyway

The 9-3 Linear, though it looks like someone bought it

Viggen:

You can't see in the pics but the lower area on the front bumper is beat to hell and the foglights are smashed out.
