Cool project, but I can think of better platforms for a 1000hp drag car. I'd rather see something in the 450-500whp range with a more rounded performance focus.

Cool car, but it needs more Ellis Juan, IMO.

So, what's the advantage of doing this swap into an FD other than looks? It's not like it weighs that much less or anything, is it?

13B-REW's are a wear item and that bothers some people.

cheers,

That's wicked. Are there any good options in using a manual tranny? Keep us updated on how it goes.

The LS1 is going in our FD tomorrow, weather permitting. It will take a while to get the wiring sorted out, but hopefully it will be ready shortly.

I detect high levels of win in this sector captain. Hey adam, how long have you been working on this ellis FD thing?

In other RWD mazda news, I am helicoiling my turbine housing today. Still waiting on my oil cooler.

It's really my friend/roommate's car. He picked up the RX7 about a month ago from out in Cali, and the donor '99 Z28 came about the same time. He is still waiting on a swap part or two to come in from Hinson, hopefully we'll be able to get it done in the next few weeks.

An LS1 FD has been my dream project car for quite some time now. It's nice to have a friend with the resources and ability to look at a project and say "ok, I think I'll build it."

Neat swap,i guess advantages for this motor are parts and like scooter said 13b having tear down problems.

Would love to see it more of track car with less hp...but its not mine!

Cool project,good luck with it

Yes, for about 2 more months until we put a ford 9" in it;). The stock FD rear end will not hold up to what we plan on doing.

I fought *VERY* hard for us to do a TT LSx motor (The new Iron block motor) and make ~2000whp instead of 1000.

I also fought for a Built LS1 with a huge shot of nitrous making ~500whp off the bottle and ~750whp on the bottle so we could road race as well as drag race. I am with YOU SvA! It is not my car though, and my opinion ultimately didn't matter.

I am clearly an Ellis Juan fan:).

With that said, tuning issues are *finally* pretty much figured out, so we should be putting down some good numbers here shortly.

Oh, and about streetability, we built the car to do some street racing as well. That is why we are running a cheap fuel. It will probably get driven every once in a while just as a "for the hell of it" type of thing as well. We plan on laying waste to all the Mustangs around.

Needs a mini suby 'scoop' to feed that snail. Can't wait to see what it runs.

I wasn't asking how it was better than the 13b, I was asking what advantages there were to placing it into the FD over leaving it where it came from.

Surprised a Japanese tuner shop didn't do it already, I know they like to do crazy swaps.

Hey just wondering which one of your team longboards? Saw this a week ago on a longboarding forum. Nice car by the way however I would have put a ellis juan in there.

Most engines die when you overheat them. Fix the cooling system and add a single turbo ftw.

Cool swap, but its not my cup of tea.

You actually got it wrong as the engine is the only thing that makes DSM's worthwhile.
