rice dreamer!!

I can picture it now.... all the dealerships lucky-enough to get these will be filled with traded in civics, spec-V's, lancer ralliarts, and celicas, from all the people that bought them "to wait" for the new skylines.

I mean... that's what everyone's beendriving these turds, and saving for, right?

Not to be a complete euro nutswinger, but no way in fuck would anybody with any sense buy that thing over a 911 Turbo. I mean, look at it.

Maybe it can compete with the C6 for people who hate domestics.

I can think of one person, but only if he gets some deep lip VIP dubba dubbas on it. Besides...There's a LOT more room to hang curtains in it than a 911, come on.

I think the argument for Skyline is 911TT performance for Z06 money. Sure, it will likely be slower than a Z06 (like the 911TT is), but it will likely offer something that people will like.

As lame as it is, they should badge it an infiniti. People don't feel as bad spending 60-80k on an Infiniti.

I hope they use the Nissan badge, an Infinity skyline doesn't sound right. Plus you have to be a real dipstick if you think the names Japanese car makers give the luxury line mean anything.

It's not what I think, it's about perception and people buying it.

A lot of people want some prestige in their 80 k car. Would you personally buy an 80K Kia? No? That's my point. My like people buy a TSX over an Accord, doubling the price of any current Nissan offering might be pushing it and I don't want to see a bad ass car go the way opf the 300ZX because no one wants to pay the money for a Nissan.

I am hoping to trade the grand marquis in for a zo6. This way I will have a reliable go fast car and a miata.

Yeah, I will need a job first. One of my future mods is to earn OB1 money.

edit:
And I ate a hot dog with mustard lol korea.
And the skyline is already overrated. With all the fapping you would think it has a warp drive lol chaos gods.

the 911 Turbo is not a bad car, but its price is like in the 140s and the GTR will be half that. both the GTR and the Turbo have 6 cylinder engines, except the GTR will have 2 turbos which will probably add advantage over the Turbo, IMO.

Exactly....I've met people that won't even bother test driving an Accord but swing from their TSX/Acura "status" symbol like it's a Maybach or something \:\/

It really says something about the job that the marketing and advertising have done over the past years that have people thinking this way. Granted, the ones like that were probably uninformed sheep in the first place, though.

Premium brands do typically offer features and "quality" that is better than the main brands and some people think that is worth the price premium. Same reason we got an Acura NSX and not a Honda NSX.

It's funny, because most people actually have no clue that Nissan = Infiniti, Honda = Acura and Toyota = Lexus.

I don't care either way, I just think it would be smarter for Nissan to badge it as an Infiniti because a lot of people are hesitant to spend big money on a low teired brand. I'm sure Viper guys get a lot of "It's still a Dodge". If I had the money, I wouldn't care, but a lot of people with the money do care.

Exactly my point. Take your example of the NSX, when it was first released here in the USDM, think back to the rest of Honda's lineup at that time and what they'd accomplished in the market over the past two decades. The public's image of Honda was economical, grocery getters & commuters. They HAD to create an upscale brand, simply because of what Honda's name and image was associated with here. It wasn't because it was an upscale, feature laden car, with a list of gadgets as long as your arm, it was because nobody was gonna pay nearly 100K for a Honda.

I doubt it. I think 600hp is about the limit for the streets. Ive tuned and driven a 400awhp R32 GT-R (stock motor, just turbos/manis/misc shit) and thats pretty fucking quick through third gear (dont get me wrong 4th gear still pulls hard). With the powerband on the RB any more then about 600hp and you'll probably be shredding all four tires, figure skating sideways through 3rd gear.

This is a 60k car?

Im sortof half curiously waiting for more data/visuals of the new M3, I should probably add this to the list. I drove an 02 911 Turbo today and other than the carbon fiber-trimmed steering wheel which made my pants tight, the car left me sort of meh, which was a big surprise. I thought it would be a strong contender for my $, but its off the list.

I get the joke - although i might not have without the emoticon. I just wanted to throw out some useful real life information since not many people have it with RB26DETT's/GT-R's in general. They are cars like anything else. The HICAS systems are prone to failure especially on the R32. Not fun to be driving the hell out of the car and all of a sudden the rear steering rack jumps about 3 degrees out of the blue. The ATTESA awd system is awesome for everything from drag launches to autocross to road racing, also awesome that you can easily disable it for 100% rwd fun - not so easy on an EVO/STi. The engine is a weak point beyond sustained 6.5-7k especially on early R32's because of many, many factors, and should really never be pushed beyond 550/600hp w/out a serious rebuild. Its a fairly small displacement motor that usually generates a flat torque curve with correct turbo sizing, so you need to rev the piss out of it (9k is usually good) to make good #'s. The crankshaft oil pump drive gear is too narrow on the earlier motors, and the oil pump is not a good design either. Good oil pumps cost upwards of $600, and the machine work to the crank to accept a wider collar is not cheap.

The piston rings, ringlands, and finally the pistons themselves are all weak points. The rod bolts are a weak point. The head needs porting and valve radiusing above 600hp along with the whole intake tract until the plenum. The whole airflow sensing system needs to be upgraded, not to mention that the stock turbos run out of steam at about 350whp.

Some people think its such an absolutely amazing car that can do a billion hp with stock indestructable motors. the truth is that the RB in particular is very finicky and doesn't like alot of things that usually make sense, like larger intake/exhaust port sizes or lots of increased bore, and they love huge cams with lots of revs. Doing anything with them requires an incredible amount of time, money, and very small hands.

Yeah i hate this Argument also, the only thing nissan is in competition with the 911 is performance based, not refinement or anything else.Differant class, same as the z06 is the be all end all sports car.Put a 4seater 911 turbo vs a track version corvette ie z06 then yeah its gonna beat it no problem. But its always gonna be the guy who wants to buy a porsche is gonna buy a porsche, hes not gonna go look at a 911 turbo and be like "hmm i don t like it ,lets go to nissan and see what they got."

differant cars, differant classes..differant buyers.Compare the Skyline to a low end gt car like say the baby jag,or baby aston.Put the porsche against its rivals say Aston, ferrari.Put the corvette vs f430 challenge, viper acr (if they have one),911 gt2 ...track version cars .

And for the skyline guys ,yes i like the car can t wait to see one and drive it.
And for the porsche guys,my favorite brand awesome car for what its purpose is
And for the corvette guys, best bang for the buck forsure love the car.

that covers my bases i think...
