Starting to get quotes to replace original gutters and downspouts on the house. I have a pine tree right in front of my house that drops a lot of needles and cones but I've heard that these guards are not as effective on pine needles vs larger leaves.

Any experience with any type of guard vs just bare open gutters?

It won't stop it completely from falling in, but it makes it easier for the yearly clean up bc the leaves are rested on top of the guard.

Would I do it again? I have mixed feelings bc I was hoping that I didn't have to ever go up on the ladder on a yearly basis to clean up the mess, but it's just easier and a bit quicker to clean up.

I wouldn't put the guards, when you get heavy downpour the water will overflow and spill over the gutters because it can't drain into the gutter fast enough, can cause more damage/flood basement if you are overflowing for a long period into one spot I think they are good in theory but i haven't seen them work well. Maybe technology has changed, but that was my conclusion when i last looked into it.

Ya, I had a company come by yesterday pushing this filter/guard and I can't see how this would handle anything more than a light shower. The top guard fits directly ontop of the interior guard to the extent that you can't even see through to the bottom so I'm doubtful that it would contain/direct a heavy downpour without overflowing past the gutter itself.

I would do gutter guards; too cheap to get someone to do it, and fuck no am I going up on a ladder and trying to do this myself...

If shit just stays on top of the guard, it's easier to blow it off with a leaf blower or a hose ...

I also picked up this janky 20ft gutter cleaning pole that points downwards. In the end, without guards, I had to go up on the ladder and clean out the corners and shit...
