actually, i did it. all you have to do is get a sticker made that says SI on it to fit in one of the spots in the dash that aren't already taken up. then just go to radio shack and get a red light bulb or whatever color you want. you'll have to lightly sand down the plastic piece that goes over the hole in the dash. use a really fine piece of sand paper. the light bulb will have two wires coming off the back of it. one gets connected to ground and the other one gets connected to the signal wire from the vtec solenoid. there should only be one wire coming off the solenoid so you won't have to guess which wire it is. and that's it!!

where is the vtec solenoid wire located?

you can begin to trace it from the engine bay. im not sure of the path it takes but the vtec solenoid is located on the passenger side of the car it is right next to the cams. i dont have a pic so hopefully someon can help.

that's pretty much it. it's right in front of the distributor if you're looking at the engine.

i had a local sign shop make it for me. just take in your gauge bezel so they can see what size it needs to be and you're golden.

there's another thread about vtec activated lighting, sounds lame as most thought in that thread

^^ the one nice thing about it is that you def. know if your vtec is working or not.

yes you can, but obviously if the light does not come on your vtec doesn't work.

i don't know about the 2002 and up SI's b/c i have never torn the dash apart on one of them. on the 99-00's it's very simple though.

where is the other fourm that was about VTEC engaging lighting? . I did a search and turned up empty

Re: Si Logo in Cluster

that's pretty simple to do also. just use one of your empty spots on your gauge bezel and have a vtec sticker made. then get a bulb from radio shack to fit in behind the sticker. you just have to ground one of the wires and hook the other one up to the wire coming off of the vtec solenoid. voila!!
