Time for another "friendly" challenge to keep off the winter weight. Run, walk, bike... doesn't matter. Get out there and put in some miles. Challenge: Log at least 60 minutes of activity over Thanksgiving Weekend. Dates: Thurs 11/26 - Sun 11/29 Method: Log through Runkeeper, Strava, Nike, or any other fitness app. Screenshot or link your results here for bragging rights. Rules: Use GPS tracking for all "competitive" activity. Manual logs accepted but do not count towards winning categories below. We'll have three categories for winners: - Fastest average 5K run. - Longest run under 4 hrs. - Most hours of activity logged over GPS. Post up if you're planning to join. Good luck! |

Had to throw some elbows and got cut out of wave 1 but from wave 2 I believe I just went ~21:40--21:50 [21:45 official/edit] in the Silicon Valley turkey trot. It was more of an obstacle course tbh but they didn't slow me down all that much. Awaiting official results, I ran through the finish and didn't stop my watch till a bit later and tried to trim it but probably fucked up Chased a ~13 year old through the walkers from wave 1 basically the whole race. He ended up beating me by maybe 10s Also there was a 'chaser' lady in the front of wave 2, who got a $1 to the food bank for everybody she passed. I was a few rows in back of the front of wave 2 (strollers were everywhere in the absolute front heh, I just didn't want my chip going off early so stayed a couple feet back) Anyways passed Her at right around mile 1 marker and she never re passed :p -1$ for u |

Pretty much gave my Thanksgiving calories the middle finger with the help of the Dana Point Turkey Trot. They offered a combo race for just $5 over the price of the 10K. Thursday: - 10K @ 44:48 (PR) - 5K @ 24:50 (Helped to pace a friend) Today: - 18 miles @ 3:01:23 ("Recovery" with the Running Club) I did the 10K first during 58-60* weather. I paced a couple older ladies with the run club. Helped me keep consistent the entire race. Felt strong all the way throughout... but gunned it the last 1/8 across the line. I shattered my PR by nearly 3 minutes. I think I have enough in me to drop another 30 seconds at current fitness level. Perhaps even average a sub-7 min mile. About an hour later I paced a work friend to help her PR on the 5K. Then turned around and went with my son for another mile for his "Gobble Wobble" event. Left leg was still tender from Thursday's activities. So I took today's 18 mile run easy the first 9-10 miles and paced with the Running Club members. Then pushed it a bit @ 8:45/mile for the last 8 miles. Felt good but the left leg is still a little tender. Going to take it easy tomorrow and resume tempo training on Monday. That's it! All in all a good week for me. |
