7/12/16 Update

So a couple of months ago I had posted that I had dropped some weight got as far 259lbs. That was the lightest I've been in years. Unfortunately bad habits brought me back up to about 275 or so. I've been working the weight down and I'm currently at 265lbs as of yesterday morning. I'm hoping to make it to 205 or so be the end of the year and I'm going to go back on my lifting routine.

I'm giving myself until summer of next year to look completely different. We shall see.

down to 252 this past Friday. I'll weigh again this week and if I keep my diet in check I'll be 249. First time in years. Slowly the weight keeps coming off.

Ironically, lifting helps running. At least when it comes to squats, deadlifts, and other leg/back movements.

Ironically, lifting helps running. At least when it comes to squats, deadlifts, and other leg/back movements.


I haven't really ran in a while nor while I was lifting a while ago. But I guess I will soon find out.

What works for me is 1lb a week to keep me from burning out. Sure itll take more time. But, when in the past I've dropped 2-3lbs a week and it just isn't for me.

So I'm pretty sure that by the 23rd of this month, one month ago exactly that I was at 245lbs, I will be at 232-234lbs. By the end of the month I will most likely be around 230 if not under. No way I'm going to try to pull off 10lbs+ again in a month. lol fuck that.

A few years ago when I was still in the service I remember being 212 lbs at 21% bf. But then again at that time I had endurance but not really lifting experience. Over the past 3 years or so I've gotten familiar with the compound lifts(squat, deadlift, bench). I've gotten up as high as 335 lbs on deadlifts and squat and about 210 on the bench.

My ideal goal would be to get down to 190ish but not be flabbish/skinny fat. Having lifted the past 3 years, will there be a significant difference in my appearance once I hit 210 lbs again? 190 lbs? I know there is no way of knowing as everyone is different but I guess I need an idea so that I can continue to push towards that goal.

At this point I'm really wondering if I should slow down the weight loss, up my calories and start lifting heavy again so that weight comes off gradually. I think I would be ok losing 1-1.5 lbs per week if by the time I hit my goal weight I don't look skinny fat. Any advice would be appreciated.

And to give an idea of my numbers prior to ever lifting, I think I was able to bench 135 lbs less than 5 times, squat and deads I never even knew about them so no idea.

Well, I think I didn't see much of a change because I had so much more fat on me. Those numbers I quoted were when I was 290+ and said fuck it. And ate and just lifted. But I'm curious to see how or if any changes will be noticeable once I she'd the weight. I'm thinking of slowing down on the weight loss and just lifting the rest if the way to shed another 35lbs.

Yup looks like 233 it is. So 12lbs in a month isn't too shabby. Will I go for it again? Nope.

Now I'll stick to 2lbs a week until the end of the year. So I'm hoping I can hit 215-219 by Jan 1st.

Long term goal for the next couple of months is to get down to 190ish. Slow bulk to 205-210 rinse and repeat.

Long term goal i Would like to:

3mi run back under 19min.
Squat/deadlifts 315
Bench 225

Will like to see where I stand in 6 months and 12 months out.

What's your time now on a 5k? Under 21min isn't too difficult, but it does suck especially if you don't like running. I fucking hate running. Lol

I both suck at and hate running, I did a 22:25 in April and was all set to squeak a 21:5x in a race last month when a 120' hill nuked me haha

All of these are lifetime PRs for me lol and I'm old as fuck. I think I can go under 20:00 but it will be a tough fight for me,I don't think I can hold half the distance at that pace yet. I was never able to run and I'm making this all up as I go

So I've hit a plateau. I have not dropped from 231-232 for a good 2 weeks now. I'm under 2k calories a day with cardio 3-4 times a week along with lifting. Now I will say there may have been some days where I've gone slightly over but not by much but I've done cardio in the evenings to balance it out.

Also seems as though I'm sitting at around 28-29% bf. Brutal.

Everybody hits a plateau or goes backwards, I'm stuck at 190# right now, and am at 15% BF

Basically my goal I guess. I don't mind going up in weight again (I've weighed in as low as 184 probably dehydrated tho) as long as BF drops and I'm sure you agree)

I was 215 about 3-4 yrs ago and really chubby hah, probably close to 30% BF

Considering I had a sizeable thanksgiving meal and drank a bit for the first time in months I think 226 isnt too bad. Fell short of my goal for today but aiming for 221-224 by the end of next week.

I just want to say fuck chicken and protein shakes.

I've switched to lean ground beef/turkey plus potatoes for lunch.

Need to try new sources of protein. Fish, turkey and beef will be a start.

I've also been adding a bit more carbs as I was starting to feel a bit exhausted.
200p/125-150c/50f~


I know that it's the deficit that's more important then the macros but still, fuck it.

I have had turkey cuts and that lasted a few days. I think the main source of protein I've been able to stomach consistently, is rotisserie chicken, eggs and protein shakes(only because I just chug it quick)

Yeah... so after weeks if not months (besides last Sunday) I had back to back cheat days. Damn did it feel good but I feel like shit. Feeling bloated but to be expected from Chinese food. Gained about 8lbs lol. Water + high sodium so I'm hoping I can still make it to 214 by the first.

2015 final weigh in


215 lbs.

I set out to reach 205 at the beginning of the year, and I could have reached (and possibly lower) it had it not been for my own setbacks.

I remember someone (Art maybe?) told me I needed to drop at least a 100lbs lol I thought, fuck that guy but he was damn near spot on.

300lbs > 215
40%+ bf > 25% or so

I've definitely lost a lot of strength but I guess that was to be expected. I'm sure it'll come back quickly once I'm ready for it.

2016 goals
Drop to ~12% bf (175-180) and do a bulk/body recomp for a few months. I figured I would be comfortable gaining 20-25lbs from that point and still be ok. Anyone have some input?

Yeah... gained about 2 lbs. But I feel better now since the past few months have been brutal.

Weighed in at 213 lbs this morning.

Aiming for 210 by Feb 1st.

I did run for the first time in a while and was able to knock out 3 miles in slightly under 30min. A bit more running and I'm sure 25min is doable in a short amount time.

I know weight fluctuates depending on what you eat and when you weigh yourself. And I may be getting excited for nothing but weighed myself this morning and came in at 209.9 I had been eating a bit sloppy for about 2-3 weeks or so but I still counted calories.

It's only been about a week or so that I got back on track but that just means going back to what I eat every day. I guess I'll find out on by the 1st where I stand.

Maybe it was just all the crap leaving my system. Lol

Side note, I tried to lift a bit and I lost a significant amount of strength. These large calorie deficits have taken their toll. But I'm pretty close to my end goal so I figured my strength will be back up once I'm eating in a surplus again.

I have not consumed more than my alloted calories. I have been changing up what I've eaten and maybe sodium is higher in these foods? Waist did go down a bit even though I'm at the same weight. I did start lifting a bit again.

Fantastic job dude! Your body is responding really well to the weight loss too. /nohomo I feel bad for so many people that lose a significant amount of weight just to find they have a body under there that isn't very pleasing to look at.

I need to focus on losing 5-10 pounds in the next 5 weeks since I just found out the wife and I are going to Mexico mid April.

I think my problem is that I've been pushing it in terms of how much I'm eating since I know what my limit is. Then I get to Sunday and it used to be a cheat meal but it's turned into a full cheat day. Up to 4k calories that day alone with no activity. Combined that I've laying off the exercise for the past few weeks has probably contributed to the slow/no weight loss.

Can't really complain after just completely pigging out this weekend. Probably 3000-3500 calories on Saturday and Sunday.

I don't even want to step on the scale.

Today I'm going back to 2 a days and hoping that may help.

I'm hoping to get to at least 204 by the end of the week. 2 a days from now on until I drop these last
10-15 lbs. Lifting in the am followed by a bit of cardio and the pm session all cardio.

Completely fell off the past week. I'm sure I gained 2-3 lbs. Legitimate 2-3 lbs. I've lost motivation. Getting beck into the gym tonight after being absent the whole past week.

I think you should try to manage a more realistic calorie and stop trying to shred weight and just keep working out. I think you will surprise yourself on how the weight will continue to come off and also allow to maintain working out with out feeling fucked everyday. Great and I mean great job on losing all that weight.

Fell off for a while and shot up to 235 lbs.

Back down to 221 lbs as of this morning. Aiming for 217-218 by the end of the month. Goal is under 210 by the end of the year.

It's so easy for me to gain the weight back since I love food way too much. \:\(
