Winter running clothes.ave
|

Well, the colder weather is here for me and I don't really have any warm athletic clothes. I usually wear some cheap running shorts and an old t shirt that work run/workout in. Any suggestions for moderately priced clothes and where to get them? It gets really windy in Kansas so I'm looking for something thats sort of fitted.

I just wear track pants and a variety of shirts, depending on temp. I have long running underwear for when its really cold, I have a pair of lined track pants and a lined long sleeve shirt too.
On a typical winter day, I'll wear the lined track pants, lined shirt, a cool max shirt and a sweat shirt over top. When it's around freezing, two thin shirts, regular track pants and a sweat shirt.
When it's really cold, long underwear, lined pants, lined shirt with two other shirts and a polar fleece overcoat.

Nothing better than a good fitting pair of running tights. I buy all my stuff from Runningwarehouse.com, and I love my Saucony pants (for the couple times a year I need them).

Target's Champions gear is actually really good. I wear it all the time for winter soccer. Lightweight, wind proof to an extent, and most importantly, warm.

I just bought a pair of champion running shorts from target and they are just as good as the Nikes I got for twice the price at sports authority. I'd imagine their warmer weather stuff is good.

In regards to tops I would recommend the Adidas climacool long sleeve shirts. I play soccer three times a week outdoors, in Oregon no getting away from the rain wind or cold, and with these shirts they keep me warm and dry. I swear by these because there is some much of a difference when I use them vs not. They are around 24 dollars I believe on Adidas.com

Unfortunately my legs are very big, not by choice or my doing. If I wore tights they'd either break or constrict my circulation so much I won't be able to run. Thanks for the tips guys. The weather went from highs of 70s to 40s and low 50s.

You can buy very stretchy long underwear. I routinely wear them when it gets really cold underneath some standard issue track pants.
A lot of work wear stores here have some good outerwear and some athletic clothing.

I think you'd be surprised. I have a very...rotund lower half despite all my weight loss. My NB tights are very comfy.

I have a couple of Under Armour style long sleeve cold weather shirts by Tek Gear that I got at Kohl's for $20 each IIRC. They work great. I layer with them though--short sleeve under it, windbreaker over it. Kept me warm on a 43 degree bike ride yesterday.
