The Neon is back in one piece. Kinda sorta

Took off work today to work on the Neon. Installed front suspension stuff, poly bushings, spherical bearings, sway bar, coil overs, axles, wheels, tie rod ends, and ball joints. Then had it towed to where I'm living now so I can work on it at my leisure. My back hates me at the moment but I'm a happy guy.

I wallet mechanic'd/easy buttoned today. Even though I have braided hose and stainless hard lines I bought a bunch of push lock hose and fittings. Should make the fuel system go a lot smoother. Unfortunately my step dad stopped by to have me change his brakes. No work to the Neon other than inspecting cams (and I found one needs rotated 180, doh!)

Car is at the fabricators for downpipe/exhaust/intercooler/pipes/motor mounts and a few other odds and ends!!! Woohoo!
It was not pretty getting it towed there. One of the 12 year old tires blew. Luckily rim survived.

Not to thread jack, but yesterday I continued working on the GTI and when that ran out of speed (a $46 6" long fuel line disintegrated while changing out the world's worst designed fuel pump), I replaced a collapsed brake hose and tired caliper on my daughter's '97 Neon.
Holy fuck, when looking at them back to back, the VW is the biggest, most poorly designed piece of shit I've ever seen. Most of the time I just blame the age and mileage of the VW, but part for part the Neon is just better designed (except for the lack of a hatchback option).

Neons are a little rough around the edges (1st gen anyhow) but they're fun, dependable and fairly easy to work on. Other than the pre mls headgaskets they are solid cars.

Ongoing. I've been dogging it, two surgeries, kid in Cub Scouts and Wrestling, and a girlfriend take up most of my time. I took tomorrow off to get some things done though.

Got some things done this weekend including making this throttle cable bracket. Don't be jealous of my fab skills.
It actually needs some welding on the tb shaft to move the cable out from centerline so it doesn't go 0-100% throttle in half inch pedal movement.
Some other fun stuff I did included swapping alternators, getting wiring started and installing some sensors and other tidbits. Good times.

Unfortunately no, for whatever reason the PTGT get a Getrag tranny and the SRT4 gets the NV850. PTGT has electronic traction control but it sucks in comparison.
