unfortunately, as humans, the profession of policing isn't as simple as black and white (figuratively speaking.. not talking about skin colour).
and as for the stories.. w/o all the facts/details.. I can not further comment. yes, some of the stuff shouldn't happen, but police officers are people too, and unfortunately, the hiring system isn't 100% able to weed out the people with rage issues. (which is why i'd probably be a bad cop).

Ben, the main cop in this whole fiasco was my good buddy in high school.
I can honestly say he "was" a good guy he wanted to be a cop since forever (met in grade 7, even back then he was on that cop tip).
It's a shame, not justifying what he did, but the guy they planted shit on was no angel either.

People are also cutting a lot of ethical corners these days, along with lack of self discipline, mutual respect and common courtesy, so trust amongst our fellow citizens, IMO, is weakening.
Fix that then we won't have to keep an eye on everything as much.
Every time, the topic of public surveillance (cameras in the public domain) come up, the counter argument of violating privacy rights come up; but w/ this in place - it can probably help with a lot of investigations and solve a lot of crimes.
